Hi Ellie,

I've just logged back onto DB site after quite a while away. Don't know if you remember me...you were incredibly helpful when my H left me, (emotionally prior to and physically 2 weeks after the birth of our second child.)

I haven't started a new thread yet, but plan to do so soon. How's the insanity of Christmas planning on your side of the world? The buildup has been more relaxed here and it's been nice to just watch as the girls learn more about the commercial and religious sides of Christmas.

I'm not sure if I'll get my new thread started before Christmas, so I'd like to take this opportunity to say thanks for your support (an eternity ago) and hope you're well and are looking forward to holidays full of love and laughter with family and friends.

Jen

Why Jen, I was just wondering about you yesterday! How are you doing? Does the warm weather down there in Oz lead to a more leisurely feeling about Xmas preparations?

Ellie..I wish the warmth did just that...but more often than not it just gets everyone frazzled as they all opt for going shopping...each with their 3 or so frazzled, tired and grumpy children, their prams with what seems like monster truck bull bars, and that's just in the car parks!!!

Actually it's been fairly nice lately..we've had a bit of rain. The top of the state is a natural disater area with food etc being flown in to stranded homes, whereas we're actually on water restrictions with the regional dam ata an all time low. Now tease me and tell me you're surrounded by snow. I dream of a white Christmas...mmmm that line sounds familiar!

THis year won't be too leisurely, as we have a 6 hour drive to see the girls Nanna, then back to have Boxing day with my parents. But that's ok...family is what it's all about. Are you staying put for Christmas?

No snow in San Diego, but we will be going to a ski resort for four days starting on Sunday, then back home just in time for Xmas. Poor H can't ski, though, as he just got his appendix out last week and his surgeon tells him he risks a nasty hernia if he pulls those internal stitches.

Hi Ellie,

Just catching up on YOUR thread---appendicitis, acute? 70-80 middle-schoolers? Geez, Ellie, never a dull moment there in the Southland. Glad H is on the mend, though (and that he was sweet to you in the hospital!).

GBO

PS I was sorry to hear about the mayoral race there....those write-ins shoulda counted....

Thanks GBO - I think my friend may end up in a Supreme Court case yet, what do you think?

Seems like a no-brainer - you take the time to write Donna Frye on the ballot - you meant to vote for Donna Frye!!!

Yeah, it seems like a no-brainer to me too, a case where greater harm is done by voter disenfranchisement than by sticking to every technicality beyond common sense.....

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement in my sitch today. It is much appreciated.

GBO
