Well, finally tested positive for Covid today after successfully avoiding it for almost three years. Waiting for my Paxlovid to be filled. Will be a week of binging even more kdramas I guess!
You may be the only person I know who hadn't yet gotten Covid. Hope it doesn't hit badly and you recover quickly.
I agree. And I’ve said it from near day one that there were going to be only two groups of people - those who have gotten Covid and those who are going to get Covid. There is simply no way to live a normal life and avoid a tiny bug you can’t see. Yet it didn’t stop half the untied states from trying and China still trying even if people die in fires because their doors are sealed shut. Zero Covid is and always was a fantasy.
The good news is you will very very likely do fine. I’ve had it twice, no vax. The first sucked I’m not going to lie. I had definite lingering symptoms over 3 weeks later. Then I had omicron (I’m guessing) this summer and it was a super big nothing. A mild cold. Perhaps I still had the best immunity - natural immunity left over. I didn’t qualify for Paxlavoid and clearly with good reason as it would have been wasted on me rather than someone who really needs it.
So welcome to the club KML! Very best wishes for a speedy recovery. And now you wont have to miss any more life events trying to avoid it. I’m betting you will experience first hand it’s not that bad - especially with multiple boosters. GET WELL SOON!!!!!

You can add me, my husband, mother-in-law, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews all to the list of people who haven’t had it….yet. Most of us are vaxed by our personal choice, and a couple aren’t by their choice. Maybe we’ll get it, maybe we won’t. Half of us work in public facing jobs so we shall see.
Anyway, speedy recovery, kml.

I suspect many of the people who think they haven’t had it actually have had it, and just didn’t test early/often enough or thought they just had a cold or stomach flu. My receptionist thought she had allergies at first last time she had Covid. But I can honestly say it’s been over three years since I had so much as a sniffle - NO kind of illness or allergies whatsoever. Thankfully I’m fully vaccinated and the Paxlovid I started today is already kicking in, so should be mild.

I was going to say the same. People who say they have never had it may really be saying they have never tested positive. It also seems like some are more susceptible. Still it’s likely only a matter of time even for those who made it this long. It really is very much like flu, colds, etc. you never know when your number will come up. Thankfully between vax and natural immunity unless elderly or already compromised the great majority will do fine.

Doing well on Paxlovid - it knocked out my headache and body aches within a day, still with a bit of a cough. Taking it real easy and watching my kdramas.
Watching a good one called Tomorrow with You, about a young married couple. The husband is a time traveler who knows they both die in an accident three years in the future. He hides this from her, and it leads to misunderstandings that threaten their marriage in the present. He keeps trying to prevent their future deaths by improving their relationship in the present. It’s actually a pretty good portrayal of the struggles young couples have in their relationships. I’m watching it on Viki, not streaming on any of the other big platforms I don’t think.
I’m feeling fine. Still cautiously quarantining to make sure my son who lives with me doesn’t catch it from me, but doing quite well - thank you modern science! Paxlovid really shut this down pretty quickly.
Had custody of my “grand doggie “ all week as my youngest son was on vacation in Mexico, so the doggie kept me company until he left today. Did some phone appointments this week, so worked a little. Put in some extra work on my Korean lessons. And mostly been lazy, it has been like the laid back vacation rest I really needed.
Watched endless amounts of Korean shows, sci-fi, rom coms, thrillers. Picking up a few more words. Now to do some housecleaning and I’ll go do paperwork in my office on Sunday probably. Should be back to seeing patients Monday so long as I test negative and don’t get any Covid rebound.
