Ok so the proposal train has left the station and the wheels are in full motion! It's going to happen this Saturday. My oldest daughter is flying in from Wisconsin and my son from Ohio to be there for it which I think will make it that much more special. I've told GF that my daughter's school (she is a professor at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse) is on Spring Break (which is true) so she is just coming to visit for the weekend. I told her my son has a bunch of frequent flier miles that he needs to use and hasn't seen his sister in a while so he has decided to come out as well (all of that is mostly true).
We're going to all go out to a winery for wine tasting and that's where I'll present her, as a gift, the "Our Story" book I had made for her. The last page of the book has a photo of her ring with the words "Will you marry me" and I'll be down on one knee once she turns to it with the ring in hand.
Wish me luck - although I'm 100% certain the only answer I'm going to get is a big fat "YES".
Thanks Wonka - and yes I absolutely will provide a debriefing. Of course if you don't see a reply from me in a week or so, you will know that I got the unexpected shock of my life and have dragged myself into the depths of isolation!
