It's getting busier here as well! I was getting so irritated doing my shopping today. There were too many people getting in my way, they were taking their time and I like to rush round and get things done! My son wants to go to the cinema on the 7th December in our nearby city and go and visit the outdoor Christmas market as well. He can't do anything Christmassy in November as he's on this social action project which covers all the weekends.

Just one Christmas event - lucky you smile. Let's see what's on my son's list - Santa Parade, Christmas train, Christmas lights festivals, Christmas market, plus decorating inside and outside at home. Mine is definitely keeping me busy over the next few weeks LOL smile. At least I know I'll be GALing. Plus he's got the school social club tomorrow night, a Cadet exercise next Saturday and the Cadet Christmas dinner to include on his GALing schedule - that kid does more GALing than me for sure!

I've only mentioned one Christmas event, I'm sure there'll be more smile We've got our town lights switch on at the end of this month so that makes 2, then there's a Christmas craft fair at the Church so there's 3 already, lol. December won't be quiet for me I can tell you now, lol. We've got extra Church services, decorating the house, shopping still to do, etc. It's a busy time of year just for one day! lol.

And on top of all that we still have to try and keep Christmas as normal as possible with an absent parent right?

We do in Canada, but it was last month not this month. And for us it was just an extra day off work - nothing special fortunately.

I wouldn't cancel Christmas - I love the season. Maybe just skip Christmas Eve this year.

We don't normally do much on Christmas Eve anyway smile I might cancel Boxing Day as my son is at H's frown Lucky you getting an extra day off for Thanksgiving. I'm sure you get more days off than me, lol.

I'll tell you I certainly miss the vacation allowance I had in the UK. Over there we started with 4 weeks and it increased, usually to a 6 week maximum. Over here, it's a standard 2 weeks, and maybe more if you're high enough in management. And sometimes you'll get an extra week for sick leave which in most cases is "use it or lose it". I think most of my sick days recently have actually been used as vacation days LOL.
