FM, I'm not sure what you're suggesting. There was a time when H and I had regular and frequent sex. He still didn't want to talk even then. Why would I expect that to be different now? It's just him, he doesn't like to talk about anything deeper than the latest joke he heard.

Then he likes to laugh. Get funny with him. Watch TED with him. Get down and dumb with him humour wise. Work the discussion into humour. You can do it intellectually...except for TED...that is just dumb fun. Make a deal with him. 90 minutes of dumb humour and 45 minutes of chat. It's a start. Humour last though. Make him wait. Make the negotiation fun. Those times are just examples. Yes unbalanced but give it a start.
