Seriously, I seem to get blocked at every turn with jobs. For a probation officer you need a degree in flippin police studies or criminology in the past 5 years.
Do you know, I am considering it. I could do some music teaching just to get me by for a while I guess.
I really wanted to learn a skill in a people environment, ideally in the public sector that had career development like social worker/ probation officer/ policewoman. Something like that rather than admin type person which I was doing before I went away. I was determined not to get back into admin as it is just not what I want anymore. I also thought if I had something to focus on like that, ie learning a new skill it would help me settle back down here.
I know in the US police departments hire cantidates based on them meeting physical and mental criteria and then train them through academies. They don't require any specific degree but they do like at least an associates degree in any subject in most cases. I don't know how it works in the UK.
Teaching music could get you by while you explore those options. Is there some sort of an accelerated course you could do online to obtain a counseling certificate to add to your university degree that would qualify you to work in a social work setting?
Maybe a visit to an office that handles the type of work you would like to do to talk to the people there about requirements would be a good start.

Yeah, they seem to be quite degree specific, like if you do social work you need a social work degree. Some councils will pay for you to do this on the job I think, I missed the one for this year already because I hadn't thought of it in time! I can't afford to go back to uni and do another degree by myself.
I think I will try and organise a visit somewhere. Perhaps I'll go down to the careers place tomorrow.
I started and introduction to counselling course last week, it is really interesting.
Argh! So I've signed up for that dating site where you get someone to recommend you and then you write a little yourself. I asked my eldest sister to write mine, I thought it'd be interesting to get her point of view. I got a funny result (she kept it short and sweet and has never been effusive!! lol!!) Julia is carefree and fun-loving. She has just come back from 2 years back-packing(again!) and loves a new adventure and fresh challenge. She is funny and a good laugh but is also very caring and a loyal friend and sister. She is supportive in times of trouble and always provides a sympathetic ear and shoulder to cry on when needed. She is very pretty with a great smile and there is never a dull moment with her around..except when she is absorbed in a murder mystery on ITV3 or reading a good book. She is musical (plays the recorder?! ) and can be fairly cultured if needed. I have known her all her life and it is quite hard to sum up such a lovely person in a few words.......but she will make a lovely addition to your life!

I'm feeling the need to justify that I am cultured - I love the theatre, wandering around galleries and going to concerts and gigs. But I also love being outdoors and going for long walks and I can even be persuaded to go camping every now and then.
I love to laugh, meet new people and find that spark with someone and yes I do play the recorder!

And if u live in England u have to reference football. A sexy pic of u holding a football against your chest. Don't choose a team. It could cause a tragedy with the Hooligans. Lol. I don't know ur level of understanding of the game but if ur an expert I'm gonna ask u to lie. Guys like a girl who is naive about some stuff. It's a turn on. You can say something like " I love to watch a football game while sipping on Merlot. I don't get all the rules and calls. But there's something about a guy in shorts running up and down the field and who plays dead even when no one touched him that turns me on".
