Just to finish on this thought for me, I absolutely agree with Brit's guess on Cheryl's suggestion regarding seducing. I was kinda thinking that when you first reported on it.
They appear to want to refuse to deal with the emotions (avoidance). Coaxing them out (read the thread of t2squared in the MLC forum) can possibly make them feel safe enough to at least touch on the feelings.
