JS, I like your goals. I've always wanted to try archery myself. I think that would be cool.
Just wanted to drop in. Hope you are doing well.

JS, Those are some d@mn fine goals. I really have nothing to say because you continue to handle yourself like a gentleman. You speak from a calm and loving place. Watching how you reflect and handle situations are pretty powerful motivators for me. ** no pressure ** . Thank you for sharing your journey with me/us.
P.S. I googled your bike.. and there is no way JB can laugh at it. It looks pretty bada$$.

No Val, no way I'm laughing at JS's bike. It would outrun mine anyday. Besides, I have enough respect for JS, he could show up on a three year old's tricycle and I wouldn't laugh at it.
LITB, Thank you for dropping in. I hope you are doing well also. Archery has been a part of my life since my teens. Fred Bear and Howard Hill were early influences, later Chuck Adams. I find practice calming. There is a ritual to each shot properly made and the going through the exercise requires focus to be consistent.
Val, It is a 180 for me to accept a complement without self deprecating. Thank You. Someday we’ll get that beer. Most days I do well dealing with this drama, there is an occasional short lived lapse. Deep in the beginning things were much worse; I owe much too many people.
JB, I do not know how you find the time or the energy to do all that you do, keep the PMA and post so much. Do you ever sleep?
Journaling: I have a piece of really good news. Our son will rotate back from Afghanistan early. OpSec prevents details, but I am left with the impression he’ll be home to his W and child on the way before December. I do not anticipate seeing him until next year after the baby is born. I am very glad he’ll be present to support his wife in her last trimester.

JS - glad to hear your good news about your S. And no - I really don't sleep enough. That's one thing I'd like to change about myself, is to get more sleep. I think the regular exercise help give me more overall energy and I may require less sleep, but I definitely need to get more.
I am sure you are looking forward to see your S. That is awesome news. Not to mention a soon to be grandfather.
When I decide to pick me up a bow and take some lessons, I'll have to hit you up for some pointers.

Journaling: It has not been a good weekend, I took a bad spill off the front deck Friday morning. Nothing is broken, I have been moving slowly since then, but moving. As I reflect this morning my issues do not hold water against others.
Ruminating: October is always a tough month. I lost several very good friends this month. My sister and father both passed in October and about this time last year STBX began making demands and poking the bear in the cage. I wish I had discovered DR then. I might have seen the smoke screen and began sooner.
It was about this time last year when she connected with old friends and classmates, and began separating emotionally, started an EA with an old HS crush, and firmed another with one of her projects. Sensing her detachment I railed against the project, not suspecting the HS crush. She has created a life within people from HS she connected with and their friends, very deeply involved in her new church. I understand several of her old friends helped found it.
It is all water under the bridge now.
Yesterday I ran into the SIL STBX is estranged from. She was very closed off. There could be many reasons her body language said keep a strangers distance. Still we spoke for a few minutes. I found out DIL and she recently had a few conversations. While I wish DIL would have a few conversations with me it is a good thing she is having them with someone on this side of family.
All is not dreary; it has been a beautiful fall weekend. I have several outside projects to complete, and I was invited to a clambake this afternoon. I have never been a fan of clams possibly b/c I’ve never had “good” ones. I am going for the socialization. I will project a happy confident demeanor. I will have a good time. I will post about it in FB. I will make it known I am living and living well

JS I'm sorry to hear about your fall. I'm hope you are healing ok.
You are very humble when comparing your sitches to others but remember that although your pain may not be more than what others are experiencing.. it is no less either!
I'm sorry that October is a hard month. I pray for some loving memories of your sister and father to fill your head in this difficult time.

This is great! Make it known for you. Hold onto it these words and revisit them as needed!

I have not been absent from the board. I have taken a hiatus from posting. I have been questioning if I am projecting my sitch into others. I suppose some of that is normal for what we perceive is colored by our experiences. I want to guard against it though. I want to help, not harm.
I have been in a bit of a funk for the last several days. To borrow a phrase, time to GAL the sh!t out of my weekend and turn this around. I will prep for another trip into the woods. At this time next week I’ll meet a cousin in KY help on his farm for a couple of days and hunt for a couple of days. We’ve been doing this for twenty some years. We call it the sweat equity hunting lease.
The clams were good. I had a good time. It was held at a Mexican restaurant as part of their combined Halloween, All Saints, and Day of the Dead celebration. No costumes just good food and fun, although a couple of the wait staff were in costumes.
A positive has come out of my fall. Mom has finally agreed to a real cane to steady herself with. Personally I’d rather she used a walker, but a cane is better than nothing. I cannot let best get in the way of better.

JS I think we all have those times where we feel we are projecting. It's hard not too especially when two sitches are similar.
What are you hunting?
My father, poor soul, was blessed with 3 daughters. I was the only hunter. In PA (where I'm from) I did small game season and deer season. I shot my first doe when I was 14. It was also my last one.
Luckily my dad has 1 grandson who likes hunting.. so finally he has his father/son moments.
I really enjoy your new moto about not letting the best get in the way of better. I agree it's easier to want the best and not be happy with the progress.
Peace and Hugs!!
