I will get to help get them ready for school tomorrow and Friday and pick them up both days. Then I have them all weekend until I fly back on Sunday.

Just wanted to check in with a quick update as I am in New Mexico with my children to begin the school year.
I arrived at my W's house this morning at 7, which gave me the opportunity to wake the kids up. They did not know that I was coming down here. They were both very excited and surprised. It was very emotional for me as it was a month since I had to put them on a plane to send them to be with their mom.
Honestly, this morning couldn't have gone better. The W and MIL were pleasant, so it wasn't too uncomfortable being at their house. I bought my D8 some shirts and I bought my S5 some cologne.
Yes, my S5 is young for colgne, however he loves wearing it because I always do. He would use mine everyday while living with me. I bought him something different. So this morning I made sure to wear some. Now everytime he puts it on, my W will be reminded that he is a stud just like his dad.
My W and I talked a few minutes ago and I let her know that she is welcome to joing us in whatever we do this weekend. She was very receprtive to the idea. She invited me to go to church with them on Sunday.
I am going to post this as some friends just walked in the door. I wanted to share the positives with the board.

I'm stuck in a delay @ the Phoenix airport, so it is a good opportunity to update.
My visit to NM could not have gone better than it did. My kids were excited to see me and we spent a lot of quality time together. They were happy that I was able to drop them off and pick them up from school. We went swimming Friday and Saturday. My S5 wanted to go swimming today, however there wasn't enough time.
On another note, we all spent the day together as a family. We picked up my W and went to church. We took our kids to their age appropriate classes and then went to the worship center like a typical couple. It felt right and awkward at the same time.
All in all a very positive weekend.

I have asked my L to have the custody evaluation pushed back at least until the end of September. My lease on the house expires then, so I want to pursue employment in New Mexico from now until then. After this past weekend, I saw how important it is for our children to have access to both my W and I.
As for my W and I, we are back in good graces. Not sure if that means anything. I know it is good for our children. In the meantime, I will continue to remain consistent in my PMA.
She has a general idea that I am looking for a job in NM, so she is happy about that. We shall see how this works out. Perhaps I am supposed to make my way back to NM. I still have a lot of friends there, so I will exhaust all of my resources.

Wow, what a change a weekend makes. I think you're looking for a job in NM for the best reason, and that's so your kids have easy access to both parents.
I'm glad it wasn't uncomfortable at the house, either.
