I still see Dr. K's snide comments to you (which you shared on my thread earlier) as button pushers. Even though I'm not sure if it's a bonafide attempt at crazymaking, he knows the reactions he is going to get when he says stuff like that to you.
Remember the DB rule about believing none of what you hear? In your case, this is really good advice.
I think by starting something for yourself and building momentum with those things that make you happy, his remarks will start to sound ludicrous even to you.
Ok, so maybe you were raised with a silver spoon in your mouth, but as far as I can tell, you certainly don't have the deb attitude in your adult life.
Have you ever thought of catering? You'd do a dynamite job there...
Anyway, I'm going to share something about paying jobs that I learned when I first moved to Colorado--unemployed.
Before that 13 month period, I tied my self worth to my income. I was clingy and needy and it was a person who was very foreign... even to me. I didn't like the person I had become, so when it came time for me to leap where I am (starting with pathetically low pay for my skills), I decided to jump in the pool of fulfillment. (And money here is no longer a problem.)
Nasty little trap, that is... and one I highly recommend you avoiding. Having a job that is a career and something you enjoy doing is a much better benchmark.
Remember the bible says you can't serve money AND God, and this is a classic example.
So Rule #1--If you're searching for a better job, make sure that the word better is synonymous with fulfilling and fun.
Uh, I hate to burst your bubble, but you're not a WASP, Trish. The P stands for Protestant! This really makes you a WASC!
Hey, on this note, I have to tell you a funny dream I had last night (before D9 got her butt tattooes)... I won a lottery of sorts so the Pope came to my house for dinner! (this dinner was actually at my childhood home... wonder what that means?)
Anyway, nobody believed me that the Pope had come for dinner. I spent most of the dream vascillating between being mad at myself for not bringing my digital camera so I could download proof to all who disbelieved and then wondering if my mother's home could now have the word Sacred House in Falls Church label... I woke up very perplexed!
There is a great book I found when I had to switch industries to help me narrow my fields of interest. Ironically, I'm not in it but it is my nucleus for doing what I love to do: hang out with my philanthropic boss, run the charity and write about things... Anyway, the book is called What Color is Your Parachute. They revise and update it frequently, so you're not going to get outdated recommendations...
It's a really good read, uplifting and helpful. They have plenty of exercises in there to help you figure out what you enjoy doing. And there is something very fortunate when you see people get paid for living their passions...
I'm here on the journey with you.

I WAS born a Protestant...converted just before my marriage.....but I grew up surrounded by catholic friends( my choice) and have been happily catholic since age 18( how do you think THAT one went over with the country club set!!!LOL You would have dropped on the floor laughing if you saw their faces!!hahahah).....so I guess I am a WASC??!!
Now...how did I miss D9's BUTT tattoos!!
I think having the pope to dinner would be hysterical!! and thanks for the book advise....I have heard of it but never read it! Next trip to Barnes and Nobles, I'll be parked by the fireplace reading it....
Hugs and HOT chocolate to you today! It's minus 9 here and I can't get warm...
I was starting to worry about you! Glad to see you're back.
It's in the mid 50s here today, so we're a bit warmer than you.
I can just imagine the look on their faces when they learned of your defection to become a Papist LOL!
You'll like the Parachute book--it's fun and easy to read and is nothing like the stuff we've been reading of late. So enjoy your Starbucks by the fireplace (don't you just love that place?)
Yes, I'm heading to the gym in a few minutes... then plan on heading again on Sat am, after Mr. W. picks up the girls.
I had another dream last night that he told me he was almost ready to come back and work on things with me. I hope it's true!
TTFN,
