Sorry , I can't help thinking that asking God for help is risky business. In one hand he's got candy and in the other fake dog poop.

Scylla I am not sure if you have a relationship with God or not, but I can speak from experience there is nothing risky about asking God for help. He has never handed me candy or fake dog poop. He is the real deal!

Actually I don't have much of a relationship with God.
God to me is the big policeman in the sky. Punitive, unloving, tricks.

I'm working on it, but it's very difficult for someone with my experiences to get out of that mode of perception about God and the universe.

Scylla I am sorry to hear that. I am not sure what perception you have of God and why you have that, but I do know that God has changed my life forever. I wasn't always a believer. When my mother passed away when I was in High School I said there is no God. I prayed daily for her and asked God to let her live, she was dying of cancer.

I was only 15 and in my mind since she wasn't saved there was NO God. What little did I know that there really is a God. I have built a relationship with him over the years. It was when I was at my darkest hour years ago is when I foud him.

I simply just prayed for God to come into my life and help me. He did just that. With my most recent testimony, it's clear to me God is walking with me on this journey of life.

I am certainly not here to suggest you find God, but he is there should you desire to seek him out. I will pray for you that God touch your soul and you have the desire to seek him out. You won't be dissappointed. Hugs!

I have asked, I pray, I give him time and listen for the small quiet voice.
So far...nothing. I can't tell the difference between my own thoughts and his voice truthfully.

Scylla yes that can be difficult. I try to think of it like this. If I pray to God for something, like most recently I prayed for anothers husband. A word came to mind discernment. Now I didn't even know what it meant until I looked it up, so to me that was God, not my own thoughts.

If I am in doubt I will pray again and ask God for confirmation or see if he gives me the same response or something similar. Like for example I was asking God for direction on finding a place to move to. I prayed before I went to bed and when I awoke in the morning the first thought was a dollar figure. Now I took that to be how much to spend per month on our budget. I took that to be God speaking to me.

I still wasn't sure where to look, so I prayed the next day too. I asked for a specific name or place that God wanted us to look. Again the first thing in the am in my thought was a name. So again I took that as God speaking to me.

If you are speaking to him, I am sure he is answering you. If you don't feel he is, ask him to show you a sign. He will reveal a sign to you, but you need to open as to how is he communicating it to you. He can reveal it to you in so many different ways. Be on the look out Scylla. I prayed for you and I hope your walk with God is a great one. Remember walk by faith and not by sight.

Also Scylla remember God doesn't always give us what we pray for. I prayed for restoration of my first marriage, I didn't get that, but later in life I realized God had something better for my life. We may not know why a prayer isn't being answered, but try to remember God does have a plan for your life, it might just not be the plan you wanted.

Scylla we wish it could all be that easy. I do believe God gives us what we need not what we think we need. At least you can find humour in this journey of life. Keep praying you never know the best may be yet to come.
