D22 just called to say that SS25 said his Dad called the sheriff's dept. before he came out and robbed his own shop. Figures. And they didn't say one word to me, and kept me running all over town gathering reports yesterday.
Snodderly, you were right. He just had to tell someone. I wonder though . . .All the things he took were purchased on a credit card that had my name only. Hmmm. Does that make it theft?
Well, that news didn't take long to drop into your lap. If you purchased the items and can prove it, then you may have a good case. Something similiar happened to me and as long as I could prove that I purchased the items, they remained w/me. If you gave them your h as a gift, then you can't claim them as yours. I would suggest you check w/your lawyer.
I'm very surprised that the police didn't suggest that he come out when you were home and have them present to ensure that there no ugly battles.
Sit quietly, the answers will reveal themselves when you least expect them to. The past is gone, the present is a gift and you need to focus on today, allow the future to reveal itself when it is ready.
I'd like to know why the edit button is not working.
The posting should read as follows:

After much thought, I responded to H's email of the 17th, as follows:
FYI- this is no longer my email account. I just came back to check and saw that you had emailed twice, once in January and the other day.
As for the first email in January, you should already have all the tax credits in regard to the house. I mailed them to you back in January along with my plans to file single.
As to my thoughts on the second, if I had known you were coming down, you could have taken your GGM's sewing machine cabinet and your Mom's dishes, which I have had wrapped and boxed by the back door since December. The few other things of yours that I have found while cleaning I have included in the box. Your Mom's heavy blue blanket, though, I think you had in the trailer. I did not know for sure it was you or the thefts that have been going on in this area. I did tell the Sheriff's office I thought it had been you, but couldn't be sure.
I would appreciate the keys to my truck, and the garage door opener. You say you have no keys to the house, so I will leave it at that.
Aunt Nez came by and showed me that you had signed and returned the papers. We just missed being put in the catalog.I wish you would understand that you can't list the house for what you are willing to take. No one offers the asking price. You have to have some bargaining room. At the Broker's advice ( Nez's boss) I raised the asking price to $299,000. I need to have enough to make a good down on another house.
I rarely return to this site, so if you need to reach me, you will have to do so through either your lawyer or the mail. The mailbox is the same.
No recriminations. No angry threats. Just a simple answer one might send to an impersonal friend. I figure this might keep him awake pondering tonight instead of me.
Punkin - just caught up with your tread...I think that your H is behaving very badly, why not call you or let you know through the kids that he wants something from your home...he is entitled to get his share...but to be sneaking around like a criminal?????...and have you discover the "theft"????....just not right. I'm totally shocked that the police didn't ask to come along with him when you were home....
Keep a list of what he took...

The is a small Arkansas rural town, and my H was a high profile person. As the deputy told me, "It's hard getting anyone to listen when the other person is so high profile". No duh.
I'm surprised they didn't come out and help him to load.
What I have to say is unprintable Punkin. My sympathy.
