BeingMe, You have been through so much; weight loss if your dr. says not to is probably not a good focus.

But if it's OK to exercise, then it is certainly a good stress relief and energy booster.

I do not focus on weight loss at all. I am fairly slim naturally so it wasn't a goal anyway, but I do feel kind of lumpy. I've lost some of the lumpiness and my arms even look a little cut now. A friend of mine told me to focus on how the exercise makes you feel rather than the scale.

This is good advice; if I were going for weight loss I think I would be more frustrated. Instead I look forward to having the good feeling. It is easier to stay motivated that way.

The other thing that has helped me is the "What would I be doing otherwise?" thought. I do not like cardio. But I remind myself that it's only 10 minutes; otherwise I'd just be watching TV or on the computer or doing something else that is not all that important to do. After all, it is only 10 minutes.

That's how I started--then I'd add a few minutes here or there.

Ok loving the results so far. I have upped my exercise to 5-7 days a week. At least an hour per day and sometimes up to 2 hours. It helps that I am not working right now.

I am really starting to look really fit now. It does seem like a few men are checking me out at the gym. First time in many years. It's kind of intimidating though. Not sure how to handle the glances my way.

I find it kind of awkward when they are pumping iron right next to me and then they make direct eye contact. Ahhh it's kind of like do I glance away or just stare back at their ripped muscles. Ha Ha Ha!

Ok the gym for scenery can be a great motivator if you know what I mean.

As far as the cardio I hate it too. What I have recently tried is breaking it up in 10 min blocks. For example, 10 min cardio, 10 min weight lifting, back to 10 min cardio, 10 min weightlifting and then soon I have 30 min cardio done and 30 min weightlifting.

I also invested in a mp3 player. The music keeps me motivated during the workout.

I take a fat burner right before I work out and it helps sustain a longer workout.

Glam, if you break your cardio up like that, its VERY effective! You will see great fat loss doing it on that split. Do be careful with that in the sense your weight training can suffer due to fatigue. Sounds like you have turned up the training somewhat! As for the glances at the gym, LOL, just take it as a compliment and go on! I remember last year, this young girl, maybe 21 said some flattering things to me, then asked how old I am, I told her that I am old enough to be your father. LOL It was cute though! Keep up the good work!

Interesting--I was going to ask if that would work.

I've lapsed a little so this is good motivation.

I have lost about seven pounds. But I tried on some jeans and they seem to fit just fine. Guess I won't sweat on that too much.

Need exercise advice. BH maybe you can weigh in here. I have 3 trouble areas. Waist, thighs, and butt.

For the waist I would like to get those rock hard abs. Any suggestions?

What do you do for jiggly thighs. It seems this is such a hard muscle group to work. How about the inner thighs too?

I also want that nice tight butt, I think they call that the brazillian butt. Any suggestions?

I am picking up a notebook today to write down everything I eat. I do work out 5-7 days a week, but think my diet might be hampering my progress. I need more willpower in this area.

Good motivation for me is getting to watch the cute personal trainer at the gym do his job. Keeps me motivated to keep working out on a daily basis. If only I could have just one..................... Back to life, back to reality! Ha Ha Ha!

Hey Glamgirl ...

Good for you for working so hard!

First of all, I don't know your fitness level or general shape but I'm assuming you know that you can't spot lose fat... so if that's in the way you can work your abs all you want and you'll develop them ... under the fat! That being said ... I would recomment the ab workout from any of Tony Horton's stuff (P90 and P90X) ... he runs through about 10 different exercises in a few minutes and you can do it solo or tack it onto an other workout.

Thighs and butt ... squats, lunges and climbing. Leg curls, if you're at the gym ...

I'm a fan of videos ... just really getting back into it myself ... good luck!

Thanks PEI. I do think I need to loose another 15 lbs. I have lost a total of 35 lbs already, but maybe those rock hard abs are hidden under the fat. He He He!

I hate cardio with a passion, but could weight lift all day. I probably need to up the cardio at this point. Maybe I can start a workout daily diary too.

I also might need a personal trainer at this point. I have taken my fitness level far, but might need some fine tuning. Hmmmmmm cute personal trainer at the gym need a new client? Ha Ha Ha!

I'm down 25 and have 25 to go ... and some days it feels impossible!

Are you familiar with Tony Horton's stuff? I love the 10 minute Trainer ... and the P90 is good too, but takes about 40 minutes or so a day ... both have cardio that isn't typical "girly" or boring stuff.

Eye-candy at the gym ... love it!
