Wow, that is a lot. I think this is the kind of thing that gets discouraging to me. I mean, it is so hard to have that kind of time! I was thinking I would push to lose a little weight and then just work to maintain that loss. I can see 1 hour a day for a while, to lose maybe 5-10 pounds, but then I'd like to keep it to 30 minutes for maintenance. Is that reasonable?
I think one of the most interesting advantages is the mood boost. But I have learned that I have trouble as the light begins to decline, too.
Bike is out of batteries. Man, it just eats batteries up!
I have enjoyed the weights. Even though I am not ripped, I feel much stronger and I think it shows.

Forward you are so right. One thing I did was really focus on getting fit during this journey. I feel great. So far I have lost 35 pounds with 10 more to go as my goal.
After 2 years, I am really seeing great results and have kept the weight off. This has been a real plus of this journey.
Gets you ready for that next relationship if that is the path you should find yourself on too.

GG, Yes, that's true--it's a great 180 in some situations, but that's certainly not my motivation any more. I found it wears off the stress and it is for me.
I have lost only a little bit of weight--maybe 5 pounds. I did lose about a size. I think my eating habits are fairly decent but maybe not enough!!
I am losing motivation a little bit; trying to keep it up.

Forward the motivation is tough. What is helping me at the moment is I am seeing great results in building muscle and sculpting my body. I like the look and it keeps me movtivated to keep going and get better results.
The weight loss is slow for me. About a pound and a half a month, but that is ok since it is staying off.
Also, having to shop for new clothes has been a real motivator. I have dropped 3 sizes. I am now working on particular areas of my body to improve.
Oh and I have tons more energy.

I always have to chime in on this thread...thanks Glamgirl for bringing it up periodically! It's so true that exercise helps. It actually produces "feel good" chemicals in the brain and can simulate/enhance the effects of anti depressant drugs. As the ads say, "Just Do It". Do something...anything...to sweat a little. It's what the body was built to do and helps relieve the stress that comes from the marital situations.
Best of luck to all

Glad I read this; I am not feeling motivated tonight but now will walk. I usually do that for twice as long as the bike.
I am starting to see results, too. And that does help, but it is hard to stay motivated.
Weight lifting can certainly hurt, sigh. Also, I think maybe I do not have any stomach muscles at all because it hurts like heck when I do anything for the stomach.

I joined a habit website. According to this site, if you practice a behavior for X amount of time, it becomes a habit. So I added the exercise. I am trying to do 5x week/30 minutes.
I do notice that I have some muscles that are really, really weak still. They are so weak that even a little bit of exercise makes them hurt a great deal.
Lost about six pounds. 30 minutes on the bike is a little too easy now, so I will up the intensity.

I have been trying to get into an exercise routine for the past year, post-radiation, chemo. I was told to keep my weight even, but that was at 212lbs. Ugh! Wasn't difficult to keep it, but now my doc says to lose it. I am trying, but bad habits like ice-cream is making it difficult.
So, I have sent away for a walking program from Prevention mag. I hope it will work. I do take the dog for walks, do yoga with the Wii dvd, and have started a weekly tai-chi class (which is over for the summer but teacher gave us a dvd to keep up). I just want to lose 50lbs, and build some muscle (I am 52 so now is the time).
Wishing everyone else good luck with their programs.
