Kat we only have a 30% chance of rain today...radar looks like it is all going through Kansas and Missouri. Fine by me!

As for me, my temp is still 101, I am still achy, and when I breathe in deeply it hurts, like when you run outside in cold air?! Yuck. Plus stiff neck and charlie horse in my quads. Ugh! Going to dr. at 1:30 but doubt they can do much as I suspect it is a stupid virus.

Haven't eaten yet today, can't think of anything I would want to eat! The thought of a bottle of water makes me shiver, I am already cold! Spent the night sweating but with a space heater pointed at me for an hour bc I am so cold! Weird...

Not much else going on. Except I think Dan had a bit of a breakthrough. Good for him.

He took Nathan to practice baseball. Then when they got home they continued to play outside. I came out to watch them play catch and Dan says, "Nathan I am saying this in front of mom, too. No more computer games or video games until you can ride your bike without training wheels or you can catch the ball every time. Video games are rotten."

Ummm...
1)HE is the one who has a Wii, not me! And his mom...and my mom has a playstation. I am the only one who doesn't have a video game! (Granted he plays computer games)

2)Seriously, catch EVERY ball? I doubt any sub-pro-level players catch every ball...especially when I am throwing bc sometimes I throw crazy! smile

3)This is him once again trying to force Nathan into being the kind of little boy he wants him to be. Granted I agree he needs to get out and move more, and be on the computer less. However, baseball is one thing he genuinely enjoys. And he had a blast at the game the other night getting three hits. Even if he didn't field all that well...

So as Dan was leaving I stepped aside w/him and told him I did not want him to 'suck the joy' out of baseball for nathan by making it a requirement. I understood the need for practice but didn't want to go to extremes when there was finally a sport he enjoyed and was relatively good at!

So Dan left, the kids came inside to eat. Five minutes later Dan comes back to the house. Asks Nathan and I to come speak to him. Says, "I don't think it is fair to use baseball as a punishment Nathan. I still think video games are crap compared to exercise but it isn't right to use it as a punishment."

I spoke up and suggested perhaps me just make a rule that Nathan needs to ride his bike or play baseball after school, BEFORE he gets computer or video game time. Nathan and Dan agreed that was fair.

So, he actually backed down on one of his ridiculous demands...

I took my kids to a grass field with a slight downhill to get them riding without training wheels. If they fall on the grass, it does not cause as much damage to their body as pavement. Now it is a joy for me to ride along with them biking as the Portland area has probably more bike paths than any other city in the USA. I just got my son a 20 inch 7 speed mountain bike this last weekend and it works great for him..

A couple things that may help with your fever...A bottle of peppermint schnapps and a long hot bath or eat large quantities of jalepeno peppers.

I'm excited for my date tonight. I hope to engage in a lot more smooching and...whatever else naturally happens!

And I cant wait to hear when you start having some fun with a good guy who matches up well with your criteria.

Maybe you got sick because you didn't really want to go. Just an idea. Sometimes your body works beautifully with your mind.

If Nathan likes baseball no one will have to push him. I was awful when I started. They even put me on a different field with the other awful players so we wouldn't get hurt. But I liked it and bugged my dad to play every day when he got home. When he wasn't home I threw ball after ball off the house.

By the end of the year I was the best player on the team.

I agree on making activity a must before doing anything else. I'm dragging D11 to the pool to swim every day I can. She's starting to get curves, hates to run and is complaining about her weight. The best way to take care of that is to move.

D7 is always moving, we just have to find something organized for her -- although STBXW doesn't appear to be lining anything up for this summer.

I never got why YOU had to play catch with Nat because Dan has an issue with it. Unless you shared the same oppinion of course...

Hope you feel better sis, thanks

I do think he needs to practice because just showing up at the games isn't going to help him improve. However I have made it clear to Dan that I am not a great team-sport athlete. I am better at dancing, running, and academic stuff (graduate college with a 3.95 and didn't truly exert myself).

So I am the go-to girl for taking him to the bookstore, helping with school work, and running around outside. However I am not going to be the basketball, baseball, or whatever sport coach. That will have to be him. It all goes back to FOO (family of origin). They taught us about that at Retro.

In my house, my mom actually never played with me that I can recall. It was always my sisters. I chose to change that by playing with my kids. However my dad was the one who played softball with us in the backyard. In Dan's house his dad was pretty much absentee...he ran away from home basically by working a day job and spending all evening/weekends farming. He was definitely henpecked so in a way I don't blame him, but that is why MIL turned Dan into her surrogate husband. (Gross, but you get what I mean.)

Anyway she did all the housework, worked a full time job, did all the childcare, taught all of the kids how to play all of their sports, etc etc. She definitely has a martyr complex about it and thinks her kids 'owe her' for all she had sone for them.

Anyway Dan expects me to do it all w/the kids bc that's how his mom did it. That's probably why his first A was w/a single mom and his second was with a basically single mom, she and her H hardly spent time together and as soon as her H found out about the A he D'd her so then she really was a single mom...

Onto other things...I have the flu. Doctor was stymied and said apparently I am "patient zero" of a new flu outbreak. It isn't really flu season, though. Lucky me! I got a prescription for Tamiflu and albuterol, as the lining of my lungs is inflamed. I asked when I could go back to school, and he said it may be Monday... crap!

Sorry you have the flu crud. But look on the bright side...if you are the first to have created a new flu virus strain, then it could be named after you crazy

Interesting, MIL is the same way and that's what STBXW grew up watching. So when I turned out to be the opposite of her dad -- I never miss events, I'd help around the house, do the driving to practices -- it seems like instead of helping I was actually crushing her sense of self.

How about the "Sass Flu" or "Sex Shark Flu"?
