I got a dinner date tomorrow night! I am hoping for kisses (plural) longer than a half second. After reading all of those raging thoughts over on Kat's thread, I am even up for more than kisses.

I thought Marines love Coasties... something to do with Douglas Munro... {wink}

H's two brothers are Marine's (Vietnam era), so the discussions at holiday get togethers can get pretty fun mostly because H did a tour in the Navy before CG.

Kerry I think I asked this before but can't remember, are you active duty now? ...are we friends on facebook?

NNP, I only served 4 years in the CG and got out in 1982. Other former Coasties on DB that I know of are JackThreeBeans and TwinDad. And those guys busted their divorce so the CG is 2 out of 3 on saved marriages!

I am not sure if we are friends on FB as I have a hard time remembering DB names matching with FB names.

I had part of the same rating as Douglas Munro (Signalman) in addition to navigation. He did save a bunch of Marines in WW2 at the cost of his own life, but I am sure there have been cases where Marines have saved Coast Guard lives.

ok yes I think you did tell me that before... H has 25 yrs in going for 30.

I am not on facebook that much I will try and figure it out.

I am sure that many Coasties have been saved by Marines. I just remember a good friend of ours saying that he learned about Douglas Munro in (Marine) bootcamp. Thought that was really cool.

My brother was a career Marine. I was the best man in his wedding and he wore his Marine "dress blues" - his new bride had a heck of a time keeping her bridesmaids from hanging all over him. I on the other hand was in my Air Force service dress uniform (think Greyhound Bus Driver here) and could barely get the time of day! frown The Marines have the best looking uniforms - hands down.

Hey BA - The CG had some of the same bus driver dress uniform as the Air Force. We also had the Maytag repairman work uniform. The one I liked that we could wear was the Navy dungarees with bell bottom jeans. We used to mix and match a lot as the CG was not real strict on what you wore. When I became 2nd class, I used a felt tip marker to add another stripe to my dungaree shirts.
