I agree, a small gift is appropriate and polite. Knowing that he is a Huskers fan it would be very thoughtful to feed into that. smile

The kids and I met with Hello Kitty this weekend at a Sanrio store in the mall. We got their cousin a Hello Kitty in a Purse gift. Go with Hello Kitty gifts - you cant go wrong.

Oh, is this a child's party? Nix the wine. I thought it was for an adult. Yes, my daughter loved hello, Kitty and that was at least 10 years ago. That stuff is adorable.

Being from the South, my momma said "you never go to someone's house empty handed. I would take a bottle of wine and leave it at that. Anything else would be to "personal" and it's not like you see them all the time.

If it's a woman then I sometimes will take a little potted flower arrangement that you pick up at the grocery store.

It is an adult party. Bobbi Jo, to make a lasting impression, you could show up as Hello Kitty and drink lots of wine.

Uh, Kerry?
I'm not sure that's the lasting impression she is after. Though it would be worth a trip to Iowa to see!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

It is for my guy friend/classmate, not his wife. I would get her wine or something like that. Instead (I shopped tonight before getting home to read the advice) I actually submitted myself to shopping in the 'Husker Hounds' store in Omaha... smile

Got him a small 3 pack of various "Husker Marinades" (lime, steak, and cajun) as I know from all his FB updates that he is a big time griller. I almost got him this cheesy little branding thing that you can use to actually "brand" your meat with the husker "H" when grilling... Geez! But it was $25 and I thought that was a bit much for a 3" metal square... wink

So GG has been texting this evening. Asking how my week is going and making sure we are still on for Friday. It is kind of funny to me since I just told him Monday it was a plan...the party is a low key gathering of friends hanging out having some beverages. GG thinks they will probably eventually get around to some Wii rock band which they do frequently....I havenever played so I am prepared to amuse the others! smile

OK time to do some laundry before bed. Gotta get up at 5:30 to host the breakfast for 45 associates tomorrow!

Oh, and as I am typing GG has texted again and so has R???? Yeah, just a "Hi, how are you doing?" Seriously?

I still get occasional windows messenger chats with F50. She has told me recently that women like to be taken to dinner. Hmmm... I have suggested that to C49 for Saturday night with a hike with her dogs on Sunday.
