SR, I really think that getting out of your comfort zone and making friends would be a very good 180 for you.

Some ideas:
- dad's group
- hiking group (meetup or other)
- social club
- social dancing (swing/salsa/etc.)
- meditation group
- yoga
- "boot camp"
- cooking class

You can do this!!

Zumba! I've heard it's really fun laugh

I see you're working out at home? The Y would be pretty cheap to join if you're interested in being around other people and having access to lots of different classes, etc. Might also be fun for you and DD over the summer to do stuff. I bet they have family events there, too.

So, I don't think you looked hard enough at eventsandadventures.com. They have links under locations (it may be an "affilated" group) to an OC and LA branch- not sure exactly where you are: http://www.athleticsingles.com/events_oc.html. Sounds like they have hiking and kayaking, etc.

alice444, that's funny I LOVE sweets (candy, fruit, chocolate bars, cookies, ice cream you name it) too laugh

I can't believe my liver hasn't given out already. Lately I've cut back on it (by my old standards) due to the age - I don't want to get diabities or something.

Well she's a party type of a girl (late twenties)- kinda out there so it wasn't hard to talk to her. A couple of funny/witty interactions:

Her: Hi, you don't need to sign in, I can take you right now - what's your ph#?
Me: Woah - I was thinking of taking it a little slow...haha
Her: I've got others I need to take care of too *wink*
Me: LOL

After a bit of the hair style talk she coughed a bit:

Me: Are you sick?
Her: no
Me: Catching something?
Her: hehe no...allergies
Her: ...and I smoke
Me: oh
Her: oh?!
Me: hehe
Her: ...and I've been drinking too, the more I drink the more I smoke (told you, she's a bit out there)
Me: hmm, that can't be a good combination
Her: oh really? OK dad! lol
Me: hey I was just asking...LOL
Her: what are you doing later?
Me: ummm...going home
Her: that's why you're in a hurry?
Me: yeah it's been a long day, long drive...just wanna go home, take a shower and relax
Her: you need to switch your shampoo it's doing your hair no good
Me: dude, that's the shampoo you sold me last time using the same line
Her: hehe...really? well are you almost out?
Me: even if I am I'm not letting you sell me crap again
Her: LOL

So...just silly goofy talk...

I'm really not very talkative, only when I feel like I have nothing to lose and I won't totally make an @ss out of myself in front of others.

FRUIT???!! are you kidding me?? If it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup in it, it's not a SWEET! (I like fruit too, but c'mon) wink

I should probably do that, but.... I just can't.

Wait, she asked "what are you doing later"??? That is interesting... not saying you should follow up on it, but you've got potential, kid. And a good sense of humor, which can only be a good thing!

That is how we shy people have to start. Pick non-threatening people (though you made an interesting choice tonight...)- people you are not attracted to- grandmas, women your mom's age, little kids (look out, sometimes they can be brutal LOL), people with kids and wedding rings on, etc. Just small talk. Means nothing, you'll never have to see them again.

STBXW just texted me:
"DD says to say she loves you but she doesn't want to talk on the phone tonight. Sorry, she's being a little difficult."

I replied:

"That's OK. Just give her a hug and kiss for me. Thanks!"

Hey the Fuji apples are sweet! speaking of corn syrup have you tried Pepsi throwback! - no fructose corn syrup, it's got real sugar. I'm a coke guy but I really liked it. It's too bad everything has fructose in it nowadays.

Nahhhh...I don't think she meant anything by it. Even if she did trust me...LOL. Besides, I'm a nice guy alice444! laugh

Enjoy the tv show!

Not really Bill...I miss her terribly at times. I question why she won't see how much I love her and miss her. What's so great about this life she's created for all of us? My DD still says things like 'daddy when we go camping next time...' and it hurts because the poor thing doesn't know we won't be going camping - not in the same way we did before. She thinks most things will be the same as before but she doesn't know.

I'm sure she does see how much you love and miss her but that doesn't often make 'em come back! Remember, the WAS likes to we-write history, twist the good into the bad, concentrate on your faults versus your attributes. In this way, they justify their actions and convince themselves that what they are doing is best. A friend of mines wife left him a number of years ago and when he said "don't you know you've destroyed my world?" she replied "that's OK, you'll find another one" It's hard, Romeo but you too will find a new world, one where you'll be loved as you deserve to be and you get to keep your daughter in it too...big bonus!!! Hang in.
