Was out doing yard work an hour ago. Got a text from Golf Guy (GG). If you recall he and I went to school together I have known him since about 5th grade. In fact in 5th grade he and his best friend both asked me to 'go with' them at the same time... I picked the friend. GG went golfing w/my cousin last weekend, found out I was single, and messaged me on FB.
So anyway he texted me asking if I was free on Friday bc he'd like to take me out for dinner/drinks and then go to a birthday party for our mutual friend/his best friend. Chad, the best friend, lives here in town and actually IM'd me on facebook over the winter when he saw one of my frustrated status updates. We chatted for a bit about Dan and so he knows the situation, why we split up, etc.
I thought about it for a minute bc all the crap about don't respond too quickly, be vague, etc etc. But screw that. After about 20 min I replied that I thought it would be great. However I have to work my elementary school carnival until 7 that night. He replied back right away that it was no problem, that wasn't too late, in fact he offered to come help work the carnival since it was his old elementary and he is familiar with the annual carnival...
So anyway it will be a bit of a 'coming out' for me bc our mutual friend Chad has kept in touch with all the guys from high school. Several of them and their wives will most likely be at this party...I think it will be fun. If nothing else I can reconnect with old friends who live here in town and expand my social network.
Oh, and guys, just saying up front "I want to take you out to dinner" is a refreshing approach...mature even!
wow BBJ sounds like you had a very eventful weekend!! And you are doing great with getting yourself out there.....Ya know you arent that far away from me......we should get together some time and go out and do something hehehehehe......

Well he may have more than one but I am not included in that count! I don't really care what the reason, I just know that it is not cool to just fall off the face of the earth like that. Haven't heard a single peep since last Tuesday.
How hard is it to say, "Hey found someone hotter/changed my mind/would be weird since we work together/I took a vow of celibacy/whatever!"
Really I wouldn't care if he were some random Match guy or whatever, but with me joining speech I will be seeing a lot of him...including that 2 hour carpool to a coach meeting next month!
Dinner was great, I had my parents and BIL over for dinner. Grilled out burgers, baked beans, chips/dip, salad, and then we had strawberry shortcake and ice cream sundaes. Yum! Kevin asked why not steak--I have not ever grilled steak myself, that was always Dan's thing being a meat guy. I will have to learn...
Oh and GG confirmed this Friday's date with me last night. This was after I had told him I had to work the school carnival till seven. He offered up 2 or 3 different scenarios to make it work anyway, including helping me at the carnival and inviting the kids to come to the party we are going to after!? (btw I nixed both, he doesn't need to come to the carnival with me and my kids are staying with my parents that night)
After I told him the kids wouldn't be around but I would he said "Sounds good. That's a plan"
