Mindfull, I also weigh myself on particular days- not EVERY TUESDAY etc. but more like when I feel confident the feedback will be positive! Is Friday your regular weigh day or do you choose them randomly?
And sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a reason whyyou and your H sat on separate couches? What would happen if you made baby steps and first just sat on the same couch as him, even at the far end, then next time stretch your legs out and then the next time, rest your feet in his lap? Man oh man do I miss that...I am sure you do, too.

I don't weigh myself on specific days. I weigh myself EVERY day! I need to stop that! I like the idea of the "confident" day! LoL Probably one right after I haven't gone out with the girlfriends the night before!!!
We were on separate couches because they're both love seats. If he is on the couch next time (there are two love seats and a couch in the room), next time, I'll sit on the couch w/him. But, everyone kind of fights over the love seats because you can face the tv w/your feet up! LoL (Funny, family stuff...)

The average woman would rather have beauty than brains, because the average man can see better than he can think.

re-arrange the furniture, literally and figuratively

Weight can fluctuate and it's misleading, especially for women who tend to gain alot of water weight during specific times of every month.
Look in the mirror, that's your best guide, your clothes will also be telling you the real story.
I never even owned a scale until last year. I just went by how my pants fit. But I have discovered that if I weigh myself every day I am more motivated to keep on track. Yes, I understand about water weight and fluctuations throughout the day. So I weigh myself every morning when I first get up. I don't freak out but if the number has gone up then I know I shouldn't have any extra/bad snacks that day.

Mindfull, I'm already a runner so the 12K isn't a total stretch!!! It will be a long one and its a nice STRETCH goal for me to get ready to run it. GO BIG OR GO HOME... right??
I agree with Coach - re-arrange the furniture while he's gone - have the kids help! Changing things up can really "Change this up"
I'm with Pearl - I weigh myself everyday at the same time. I only fluctuate "one week" a month... the rest of the time I'm consistent so Its a good way for me to see the direct results of my behaviors - accountability is necessary for success!!!

That works for me too. The trick is not letting it be a source of neurosis. I am not objective enough to judge by looking in the mirror or even pants fitting (denial!) so the scale is my friend right now.
