It was a fun party! And cleanup wasn't bad at all this year! Although Shiny said she would help and I didn't see any sign of her when it was time to end the party Sunday evening.

Hey, at least you weren't the LATEST post in piecing in the AM hours!!!!!!!

Looks like my nickname for you is catching on Mr. Cool!!!

Glad the party gave you a few laughs...I KNOW we all needed a little silliness to lighten things up!

Thanks, too for your posts to my thread...I really value them as I have this feeling you and CJ bear some similarities.

Hope the work week is flowing smoothly and sleep coming easy!!!

I thought since you instructed classes you might have some good ideas here. I believe it is a lab and lab mix.

PIB Thanks for the thoughts.

Shiny Does look like the name is sticking. You're right about the laughter helping. Sometimes it is the best medicine. You're welcome for the posts.

I've always had good luck with raising my knee into the dog's chest, along with a stern "Off!". For a small dog, a foot usually works. For a really determined dog (doesn't learn after a week or so), you may have to bump harder. Theory is that if it's uncomfortable, they'll stop. Once they understand the word, try to get it in before their front feet leave the ground.

Hi Mr. Cool!

When the pup responds to the "off" command do you reward them, for staying down? I saw this guy on TV who took this impossible, full grown dog who jumped up on everyone and had her STOP it altogether in one afternoon!!!

Although I'm a cat person, I love dogs as well (grew up with two). I think it's really important that dogs are trained (not to the point of breaking their spirit of course!).

My friend H's large mixed breed (part rotweiller) was at the party on Saturday...he just loped among the partyers...doesn't jump up at all (good thing or he'd knock me over!)...can be called to his owners in one word, didn't make a move for the "human food"...I was quite impressed.

Of course her 10 foot boa constrictor is pretty well behaved too!
