Yep, they got married. It was supposed to be a surprise but my son told me about it a few days before, apologizing for not keeping the secret from me like he was supposed to. 1) I think as the mom I should know about big changes in my kids lives and 2) who tells a child to keep a big secret from their parent(s)? That's a lot of pressure on a 7-year old. Anyway, I digress.
How is child/spousal support amounts set in Iowa? We used a software product called "dissomaster" to figure out the amounts. This program figures out how to most equitably divvy up the family income. Support is re-evaluated each year, upon reasonable request by either party or after major financial changes.
This is stuff your attorney should be covering with you, IMO.

Thanks, guys! I have looked at the support guidelines for Iowa before. The formula I looked at took into account how much we each make, how many nights a year we each have the kids,and who pays what re. insurance and child care, basically.
I have only had three sit-downs with my attorney actually. The first was a year ago when I did my free consult. Then I met with him over the summer to discuss what needed to be done to proceed, then we met once to actually write up the petition. He asked me to get him my financial stuff by this past Monday so he could review it. He will share his findings with me when we meet on Wednesday to write the settlement...
I am sure he has already put stuff in place re. insurance and medical but I will double check!

Last night was fun. CMF (college musician friend) texted at noon that he was offered a gig in Des Moines so could he take a rain check on meeting for a drink. I said sure, good luck, have fun. No big deal.
Instead I met up with my sis and her family, they drove down to Omaha from Des Moines to pick up a new car they bought--my dad works at a Toyota dealership here. So we all went to Buffalo Wild Wings--YUM! Then I went Christmas shopping. Figured why waste a night when I had a babysitter already?
Today we went up and got our Christmas tree. A 6 1/2 ft Frasier Fir. Also got out a bunch of decorations. I have a 30th bday party at 8:00, meeting up at a martini bar inside a local (Council Bluffs) casino. Should be fun!
I was rooting for Texas but still a heartbreaker when the ending is that close....
Had an awesome time last night! Got home at 4 a.m.
My cousin turned 30, her sis and bro (obv my other cousins) were there, a handful of her other friends/spouses, and then later 2 other cousins and their wives showed up. About 15 of us all together...
So funny thing....of the 2 other guy cousins...one's wife had an affair and left him 4 years ago. They were apart for 6-8 months or so. Then he got cancer and she came home and they have been together ever since. Just had a baby girl 2 months ago.
Other guy cousin and his wife split up a year ago, hated each other, he filed immediately b/c she pulled a WAW on him...they got back together 6 mos ago, split again 3 mos ago. Divorce was final 6 weeks ago. The day it went 'legal' they got back together. He kept calling her his 'ex-wife' last night, and they acted like it was funny?
So anyway all in all it was a good time! Woke up with no headache or belly ache so that is good!
Oh, and for Mike....ROLL TIDE!!!! Even though you made my Tebow cry...
