Hey BBJ, that IS quick...however, if divorce is what you want, it is fine. Something tells me you are still hoping that he will magically return to his old self and give it another shot. It's just papaer BBJ...it sucks big time but there are better days ahead for you. How many times have I told you this: you deserve better.

John, you are close but not quite right...

I am more just disappointed, not so much hoping. Granted, if I got some sort of Christmas miracle/wish it would be that he would have that "Ebeneezer Scrooge" moment where his whole life is put into focus and he realizes the error of his ways, and some type of dramatic transformation takes place.

However I am smart enough to know by now that it would be just that, a Christmas MIRACLE!!!

Realistically I see no way that he could
A) Recognize that he needs help and take steps to get help (counseling or whatever)
B) Commit to being the type of husband and father he needs to be to renew a relationship with me
C) Suddenly become sexually/physically attracted to me

All in the span of the next 3 weeks.

So, I fully realize that this is the only logical step to take next. Carrying out the divorce. But just because I know it is right doesn't make it painless...

Last night he called to talk to the kids. He is in Brooks (in Canada) again for the week. He told the kids he was driving in a snowstorm. The kids put me on the phone when they were done talking. He said it was 10 degrees and blowing snow. Then he said, "Hey, can I call you back when I get to the hotel?" as the weather was making it hard to drive.

Mind you he was the one doing the talking, not me. I said fine, ok. Of course he didn't call and I didn't even expect him to...

So, one of my students informed me yesterday he was moving to Colorado this coming weekend.

Well, he moved here to live close to his two cousins, who came here last year.

Today, he told me that his two cousins are moving also, but later, after Christmas..........

That would be 3 of the 5 TOTAL students I have....

No way they will keep me full-time with only 2 students..............................

Ouch! Hopefully there's a circle of life thing going on, and you'll get some new students!

I'm sure they will want to keep you... if they can figure out a way! They aren't as dumb as Dan!

BBJ,

Maybe you should wait til you hear about your job before you do the settlement. You may need more support if you don't have a full-time job.

Thanks, that is something I was worried about, too...

I heard the kids were moving from the 2nd grader who is leaving Friday. He said his 2 cousins were coming after Christmas.

I asked the 4th grader today if she and her brother were moving to Colorado. She said yes, but she didn't think they were moving until the end of the school year. Which still puts me in a position where I will need to find a different job for next year...

I wonder if I need to share any of this with Dan? The fact of the matter is that Iowa has had a 20% budget cut across the board for all 'state' institutions, including public schools. Our district is one of many that has put a hiring freeze in place. The supt. told us last month that there WILL be staff reductions next year. That being the case, I may have to relocate if I want to continue teaching vs. finding a different type of employment...

I don't think I would say anything to Dan. It's all fourth grade rumors, at best!

You probably should have your ear to the ground in any case, but that would have been true anyway.

I will just keep a watchful eye out for now...the 2nd grader is confirmed leaving Friday. That drops me to 4 students.

I got on the Iowa teaching jobs database, the only job I found that I am certified for (I have K-6, early childhood, early childhood special ed and ELL) was an early childhood special ed job up near Iowa City (5 1/2 hours from here). Pickings will be slim this next year due to all the budget cuts.

Whoever said the recession was over doesn't live here!!

Our school district is still growing, though I think they are having to be really frugal, for the time being.

Someone is IMing you!
