Funny thing is that my H did the same thing...we were married almost 23 years also....just passed the 25th....
My H has not changed in the least...has never been mean just totally withdrew from his family....a family man turned....but is giving his all to his new family...
Thank God for everyone here....they've saved me from falling off the ledge....

Out of curiosity, once you were secure in your H staying home were you able to talk about your hurts over the way he treated you? I also wonder about the trust issue. They have completely shattered our trust. Do you now trust your H 100%, or at least as far as humanely possible?
That is a bridge I haven't come to yet. I know that right now I don't trust my H as far as I can throw him which isn't even an inch. I can't imagine at this point being able to ever 100% trust him again.
We talked about it before he came home. He knew he would have to earn my trust again and it wasn't going to be easy. He had to make me feel safe again.
We did talk alot about everything in the first few months of him coming home. He was very open about everything. He understood that I needed to put it behind me and I had to know what happened with him and our life.
If he went anywhere by himself and he was going to be longer than expected he would call. If the OW called and left him a VM he would tell me and let me listen to it.
Believe me it didn't happen over night. It was hard because of all that he promised before. He knew that I wouldn't go through this again.
It will happen with time and alot of work on your H. This is something he has to prove to you.

Just wanted to add, the B was dropped in the 23rd year of our marriage, and weird enough, his parents filed for divorce in the 23rd year of their marriage. I even remember telling him, "you realize this is when your own dad walked out of the marriage, don't you?". (Twilight zone music playing)
