Boundaries are extremely important, they are not covered so much in DB/DR.
But...Communicating them IS. HOW/WHEN you go about communicating boundaries (and I did NOT say TALKING about them) IS in these sections:
CHANGE ANYTHING THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE BETTER DONE THAN SAID (I think that's the title, I don't have it in front of me right now, could be ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS)
When you don't have an 'audience' for your words....your actions will communicate your boundaries a little better....for example the things you make yourself available for. You don't have to have a discussion about it and it may be counter-productive to try to. A boundary in general is something that isn't very negotiable....so you don't have to open that door to negotiation. 'Announcing' can come off very agressive even when not intended that way. Just not rewarding a crossed boundary can be more peaceful, gentle and effective.
