Maybe you should have just sent a box of cake mix, karen.

The Dollar Store brand. \:\)

I know, I'm the same. Look what I did for her Birthday. Remember?

At least I got some.

Cake, that is. \:\)

You got me there for a second! Well, at least you got some of the cake. Better than nothing. \:\)

Some excitement today. My power got shut off this morning; I thought the power had just gone off or something, but no 2 of the men from the city had just shut it off. I told them I paid it just last week in person and got a receipt (didn't even pay it late or anything). I'm sure they hear that all the time! But miracle of miracles, I found the receipt right away and gave it to them so they called the office and turned the power back on. I had to go in to the place and show my receipt--the lady said they hadn't put it in the computer so it looked like I hadn't paid! What a bummer if we didn't have power today, so I am twice as happy about that!

Got the New Year's stuff: tiaras, hat for S15, and party horns. I'm going to try a new chocolate chip recipe from allrecipes.com. Someone posted that here before, and I've been using it more and more. So far all good recipes, I go for the ones that have 5 stars or almost on their ratings. They have a budget recipe section I want to try out too.

Ahem, well, don't move to Seattle then if you like sunshine, Karen. (I lived there for over three years.)

Then again, our Miss Sunshine could brighten even the rain-sodden Pacific Northwest.

God's Blessings for a Happy New Year.

Thanks lwb! We did. Made our homemade cookies which tasted pretty good. My D9 is an expert egg-cracker and helped too. We wore our party hats and fought to stay up until 12. Watched the ball drop. Felt sorry for Dick Clark but also great that he is obviously still living a vital life even after stroke. I think he said it was his last year or something. Hope he is retiring though....D9 and I have decided we want to go to NY at some time and watch the ball drop with all the other million people. And I think she's hoping we'll visit the world's largest toy store too of course! \:\) Hope everyone's New Year was good, and I know this year will be better for us all!!! Karen

My ray of sunshine is a little dimmed, ok burned out today!!!! It's official I hate my H! He came over at 4:30 about 2 hours early to pick up the kids today. I wash their blankets right before they leave with him or he complains. So we all went to the therapist today for 2 hours! and got home about 10 minutes before he came in. He walks into the house and I was topless in the bedroom changing shirts. He was dropping off the check in the house b/c he hasn't done the direct deposit thru his work if he will ever. He also said there's a FL statute that the bank isn't supposed to hold the check for 3 days (as they all seem to do including mine). I asked him if he had the statute since I didn't have time to take the bank to his bank and then mine in 30 minutes plus finish packing the kid's clothes of course. He said you should have asked for it. I did, emailed him 2 weeks ago, but he either didn't read my email and I know from his lack of response to some emails he hasn't worked in the last week or 2 which is where he gets my message. Maybe he took off 2 weeks vacation with OW, although he only spent 2 hours with the kids in the past week?, or maybe just didn't read it. He was talking to me when I said I did email you, and I just walked in the house and slammed the door (yes, I'm very mature). I forwarded my email to him from 2 weeks ago, and said he must be having problems with his email or something so this is my 2nd request for the statute he says he has. Thanks! And please email to let me know if you are going to pick up the kids several hours early so I can have them packed & ready as I do (when he doesn't pick them up hours early). I think he's such an azz!!!

The kids and i all talked to the therapist today. Told her I applied to a dozen jobs the past couple weeks (about 30 now total) all the part-time jobs I'm qualified for or overqualified for (clerk jobs, food service jobs, etc. Anything that will pay the rent. Nothing. It's a bad economy all over, but in Tallahasse my area there are 2 4 year colleges, FSU and FAMU, in addition to the 2 year cc college. So all those thousands are competing against me, plus the thousands that have lost their job in this area the past year. So my C thinks applying in other areas is a good idea, prob. easier to get a job, and get a more professional job in a few years as well. Her only concern is that b/c H will have to pay for plane tickets for the kids that they might want to reduce my alimony (he can't reduce the child support) to pay for that. Then I would have no choice, but to work full-time, but so be it. I'm done with dealing with this butt! Don't want to spend the rest of my life dealing with this loser!!! Karen

OK, I'm feeling a little better. I just walked through the kitchen and I noticed near the check H left on the kitchen counter is a bunch of homework for S15 yesterday, it was for a worksheet on STD's in his Life Skills class. It was fact sheets and info on STD's: chlyamdia, gonorrhea, HPV, syphilis, and herpes. I'm hoping he was thinking: like what she's been doing lately!!! cracked me up. I know I have a weird sense of humor!!! Karen
