Yeah, I was goalie. Sacrificed myself for it on more than one occasion--broke 7 fingers in one game cause someone had on illegal cleats and managed to get them past the refs. She then stomped on my fingers. We were already short and would have had to forfeit if I went out. I used tongue depressors from the med kit to splint them and went in at forward to play, moving someone else into goal. Slide tackled the witch, made it look like I was going for the ball, and broke her shin. Her school got fined $1000 for her illegal cleats.

my gorry keeper moment was about 15 years ago in an adult indoor league I got supremely cheapshotted cuz I stoned somebody and they didn't handle it well (i guess you could say). So as I was sprawled on the ground, after having made a nice save, the dude came in way late and swiftly proceeded to boot me in the chin. The ball certainly never came out through it all but my teeth nearly did. The teeth (I think I may have even been wearing a mouth guard ..can't recall) pierced the indent between my lip and chin. You could see clear through it if it wasn't for the major amount of blood. The thing I remember most about that injury was that the damn ER people failed to give me a scrip for and vicodin or anything of the sort. SO, once the local anesthetic wore off from the needle in the ER I was in writhing pain. Nothing like torn flesh to bring on some fiery pain.
I was too mangled to know precisely what happened after that, but I am fairly certain that in the massive brawl that took place following my getting clobbered that the a-hole who was responsible got what he deserved from members of my team which included my older sis and her then H.
