I operated twice in the last 12 hours..major cases....and I think the outcomes will be good. I am, to my 'surprise', hitting my stride as a general surgeon. Possibly....all to be thrown out the window.

I called my atty today..got her office manager. Told her if she speaks with her...that I want this job if given the offer and that we need to 'make it work' in the midst of divorce.

I emailed my buddy in Beverly Hills..part of the company...who told me about the opening....who says that "I am at the top of the list". I hope. Leaving my children for 3 months....(sigh)

Well...I don't want to count my chickens before they are hatched.

We cancelled my sons party last night. I met a professional BB player at work if you recall...I called him to cancel last night and put my son on the phone. WOW..he was SO EXCITED. My W came running upstairs to 'be there'...what a sour look she had on...because I did something for my son.

Today, while I was in the shower, my W gave my son her big gift...a clone trooper helmet. She didn't wait for me to come out. In the past, I would have been hurt and angry. No more. I helped him snap it together.

Just a little curious about this job. You need to spend 3 months in CA, but then will return to your home state? You will no longer be operating? Or will you just be doing a different kind of surgery? Will you be going into a different field of medicine? What are the plusses and minuses for you?

Living with a burned-out surgical specialist myself, I understand your pain (sort of). Just wondering what you are trading for. Be careful of thinking a change just for the sake of change will fix things. On the other hand, don't get stuck thinking you have to stay in the same rut your whole life just because you worked so hard to get into that rut!

Hey FIB,

Haven't had much time on the board the last few days but came here hoping that maybe you had some good news. Oh well, from what you said they do sound interested. Funny how the powers that be are never in as much of a hurry to get back to us as we are to hear from them!

I bet that as hard as if may be to think about, going to Cali and separating yourself from the drama, is probably exactly what you need. A change of scenery is also helpfull in clearing our heads and making us feel alive again. I was into this whole thing for about a year when I got on a plane and headed for the ocean. That was when I knew I was going to be ok.

As far as the children go, if this gives them back a strong and happy Dad, then that alone would have made it all worth it!

Fingers and legs crossed!

Bethie
