Interesting morning.... I was awakened at 6 am to... "You know what sucks?" I kinda woke up, and heard that W had been "called off" work, not enough patients. So, she'll either have to use vacation time, or not get paid. She was upset because if she had known that, we would have stayed for the fireworks. Oh, she did say something about having a nice day, I'm sure in reference to the mirror!
So, I went to sleep, she sewed, I think. Later I got up, and got moving, did some reading and stuff like that. A bit before 10, W ways, they called back, now I'm going in. The kids want you to go to Nico's (local Mexican fast food) for breakfast. And S10 needs some help finishing the granola he's making. OK, so I got in the shower, and got ready to go. Then she calls here, "They called me back off!" She was a bit upset at that point, I had no trouble validating that! It seems the person in charge on the floor, who had called her in, got overruled by the manager, who as I understand it wasn't there. They were expecting some discharges through the day, and the manager said to run tight, rather than call in people.
So, I still made the Nico's run, and W showed up while I was gone. I got some more chances to validate, again, it was pretty easy! I said I MIGHT be able to see how they can call people off (though what other profession does that, with an hour's notice?) but I couldn't make a story where it was ok to call someone in, and the call them while they were on the way to tell them not to come in.
So, it's been an interesting day, and I didn't do anything!
Oh, she just now called her mom, I think we are going to go to dinner with them tonight. As she was telling the story to her, she said that at 6 this morning when she got called off, she woke me up to tell me, because what else was she going to do! I thought that was interesting.
As always, there are lots of hugs, the bar is open, and I think we will have to eat!
(((((Purple))))) Why dry heat? Well, there is a saying in the desert, as we try to explain how we can live here when it is 110F (43C) out. We say, "But it's a dry heat!" And it is, I find 110 here to be more "comfortable" than 95 on the east coast with lots of humidity.
(((((Ali))))) I don't know if it is huge, but is it interesting. I'm pretty sure, almost certain, that she knows it was me. She knows I was looking for the marker, and the kids were in bed before she was.
(((((Lola))))) I like the muli-lingual good morning idea! I think it suits her, too!
(((((Kalni))))) I think the post its later make a lot of sense. Maybe even be a bit unpredictable about where they are?
(((((Mishka))))) I'm not quite as excited as you are, yet! But, maybe it's a way to break the ice, and see what's underneath. Maybe it's more ice, but maybe there is something else?
Im still standin better than I ever did looking like a true survivor feeling like a little kid Im still standin after all this time and Im picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind..
8 months ago when H was drawing a smilie on our bathroom mirror about every 4 days or so, I didn't say a word. If I got mad at him during the time it was there, I'd erase it. (yes I was this juvenile) lol
Yesterday when he did it, I walked up behind him, hugged him, kissed the back of his neck & thanked him for being so thoughtful.
Keep trying.
M 19 years, MC for 8 months, DB'd for 8 months 4 kids; 18, 15, 14, & 10 I was never meant to be a doormat. It took me years of therapy to become assertive enough to stop his abuse.
My Mom is a retired Nurse manager and I cannot recall her ever calling a Nurse who was scheduled to work not to come in. I find it strange that your W will have to use HER vacation time because of that. Is this normal in your state? It seems unprofessional and ethically incorrect to me.
Great job with the mirror. How about drawing her favorite flower the next time?

Hola (smiley) Buenos dias Besitos, J (little kisses: in Spanish its seen as cute to put itos or itas after things. For example pollitos, besitos) Abrazos, J

(((((Mishka, Lola)))) Perhaps! I have gotten very good at no expectations!
(((((cookie))))) Hearing about you, and the way that you were able to "reopen" your heart to him, helps me to see that is is possible. Whether it happens or not, I guess time will tell!
(((((Jen))))) It sounds like calling someone not to come in is "normal", and being done more and more. It's the first time it has happened to W, fortunately. I imagine she just won't get paid, and she'll try to pick up a shift later, which seems possible in the summer. What really bugged me was that the "manager" overruled the charge nurse. Micromanagement at it's best. From what I've heard (I heard a bit today!) this "manager" is disliked by everyone except the higher management. Her budget numbers make the higher ups happy, but she micromanages.
It think Hola, and Buenos dias will work! I think I'll hold off on the besitos! (Is a pollito a little chick?)
