It could be that it's just her expression of her feelings that is a little misguided, after all she doesn't have the benefit of our knowledge and wisdom :-) I say 'our' meaning all the people here on the BB who have taken time to understand how their spouse is feeling.
Maybe I should go back to how I was when I was 18 - I knew it all then, obviously I've just forgotten a lot of it since.

Yesterday out of the blue a thought occured to me about your S. Do you think her hesistancy to skip work/reschedule work (to take you to the doctor's, and to go to the concert) has something to do with respecting herself, or you respecting her work? Since being back at work is something relatively new for her, maybe she feels that 1. she really can't reschedule/call in sick/whatever or 2. when people respect her work schedule they are also respecting her status as Working woman, and vise versa?
