Yes, a D&C makes a lot of sense. It won't allow anything to grow more freely, all they are doing is scraping the surface inside your uterus. It is a very, very common procedure.

Usually, though, this is done to determine if there is cancer present, so I'm not sure what purpose this will do with the cancer that is there. They may be doing this to make sure you don't have endometrial or uterine cancer. This seems like a good sign because usually you are given a hysterectomy for uterine or endometrial cancer in early stages.

Have they talked about a hysterectomy, chemo and/or radiation with you yet? What stage are you in? You need to get going on this and get this information ASAP. You have to take care of this stuff immediately and be your own advocate. This isn't the time to do a wait and see.

I actually had to go in yesterday and they did a D&C. I started bleeding very very badly while we were out so I went to the hospital. The doctor there told me I had endometreosis very badly and the D&C would take care of it all. So now I'm totally confused and wondering if I should get another doctor to see if it was just endometreosis, or if it's cancer like the first guy said or what?? I don't have pain or anything anymore though so that's good.

I actually had over the years several D&C's just because I had very heavy periods going on for weeks not days at a time.
I never had cancer or any other problems.
It just sometimes helps to give the womb a "spring clean".

Hope it all goes well, if you have already been told you have a type of cancer though you really should be getting treatment ASAP. I would certainly be contactin the hospital to make sure your recods etc haven't gone astray.

D&C is a common treatment for endometreosis.

You need to find out if you have cancer yes or no, ASAP. Like yesterday.

Yes you do.

I had a uterine ablation about 6-7 years ago that dramatically increased my quality of life for about 2 weeks out of the month. Not only did it take care of heavy periods, it took care of PMS as well. Go fig.

Find out. Haven't you had a biopsy?

"or if it's cancer like the first guy said or what?? I don't have pain or anything anymore though so that's good."

I find it hard o believe that he told you you had cancer and then did nothing? no drugs treatments etc. Did you have someone with you when you saw this Dr.?
Lack of pain is not a good sign if it is cancer, lots of cancers esp. early stage are painless.
Go back to your GP and take someone with you, 4 ears are better than 2 cos you can misundersttand what you are being told. Especially when you worried

I have (had) endometriosis.

It took a laparoscopy operation to determine mine. How did he diagnose it by the fact that you were bleeding heavily?

Mine was treated with hormone tablets. They stop you menstruating so that they endometriosis doesn’t grow, Since the course of hormones I have had no problems with it.

It is nothing like cancer.

If you have abnormal cells then you will need some surgery to remove them. My friend had abnormal cells on her cervix and they treated it with lasers.

It may be different here in the UK.

I have an appointment with the first doctor again this Saturday. He did do a scraping and told me it was cancerous. So I'm going with him. My mom will come with me too, good idea about the 4 ears opposed to 2.
