1 Cor. 7...

13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

Take the question to Him.

Then of course there is ...

"Jesus replied...I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."
Matthew 19:9

Seems to suggest that remarrying IS an ok thing, provided the divorce was justified.

Hmmm....

How to reconcile these two?

Perhaps the key is in

"Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning"
Matthew 9:8

God intended for marriage to last forever.

Just like God intended for us to live holy lives.

But we are sinful, imperfect human beings. We often fall short of the perfection that God planned for us. And God realized this would be the case.

I believe we are dealing with the ideal that God intended, versus the reality of our sinful world.

Some of us will divorce.

And some who divorce will remarry.

God condemns neither.

While it is not His perfect plan, God is God. He is the master of bringing new life from the ashes of our mistakes.

Each must decide for themself which way God is leading us. These issues, for me at least, certainly fall into the "disputable matters" mentioned in scripture.

Blessings,

Bill

I couldn't believe what I was hearing on the radio just a little bit ago coming from Jeff's.

Journey (sans Steve Perry, of course) has a new song.
I grabbed onto one line and then searched til I found the lyrics. Here they are:

A faded wedding photograph
You and me in our first steps
Our eyes are closed
We lost in once sweet embrace
Though the faithful world has changed
But our love remains the same
God knows we've had our share of saving grace

And I'm proud of all the blessings
You have given me
The mountains we have climbed to get this far

You learn to take the laughter with the tears
After all these years

You make it feel brand new
After the trials that we've gone through
Against the odds we never lost our faith
In our hearts we've made our home
Where our children all have grown
Precious moments time can not erase

Made a livin' up and down the gypsy highways
Seasons that we've learned to share apart
Somehow in my heart I always keep you near me
After all these years

After all these years
You stood by me
The days and nights that I was gone
After all these years
You sacrificed, believed in me
And you stood strong
Cause with our love there's nothing left to fear
After all these years

After all these years
You stood by me
The days and nights that I was gone
After all these years
You sacrificed, believed in me
And you stood strong
Cause with our love there's nothing left to fear
After all these years

Too subtle?

Was it just chance that particular song came on the radio, or do you think that God works in ways beyond our ken?

Geez Amy half the fun is having people figure my zen BS out for themselves.

I know He works in ways beyond...

But I don't know who ken is.
