I LOVE your title. \:\)

Glad you are in a better place emotionally.

Sorry to hear about the house problems. They are no fun. Last fall I thought I was never going to get through all of mine.

OMG fig, my kids was so afraid of Large Marg. Sometimes I still bring it up and remind him how she scared him. Oh and Goonies...well I've only watched that about a 1000 times, another of my kids favorites.

Hey - about those running toilets? Not so hard to fix, usually.

If you have the kind of toilet with an arm with a big balloon thingy on it floating at the top of the tank - sometimes you just have to slightly bend that metal arm so the baloon thingy sits higher.

Or - sometimes the flap at the bottom of the tank isn't sealing. Try resetting it manually. If part of it is torn, or you just can't get it to seal properly, you can get a kit to replace the tank innards at your hardware store - not too hard to do it yourself.

Get yourself a good all-round home repair manual with good pictures. You'll be surprised at what you can fix yourself.

Cat, check this website out:

toiletology.com

A running toilet is easy (and usually cheap) to diagnose and fix. The above suggestions are the two most likely culprits, and I would also add that if you have *very* hard or rusty water, you may need to drain the tank (turn off the water supply and flush) so that you can take a pumice stone to the area where the flap sits to enable it to seal again. A replacement flap kit is readily available in any hardware store and costs less than $10. You can do it and you will feel so proud after you do!

On the tiolets I know mine last fall overflowed from the tank and flooded my bathroom, bedroom and part of the living room. I usually turned the water off on it but was in a hurry and stressed out as this happened when Shimmer was really sick. \:\(

It turned out to need a new upright part of the kit. A friend changed it for me and of course he made it look easy but from watching him I don't think it was too hard and the kit even had directions right on the box. \:\)
