Since you are from the bread basket of the country and your H is in the livestock business, have you ever eaten goat meat? I was pleasantly surprised on how good it tastes, but then again, I have eaten bugs (deep fried grasshoppers, bamboo worms and beetles) in Bangkok and liked them too (I passed on the deep fried scorpions).
KK,
I was in Bangkok in February and ate a deep fried silk worm - it tasted just like a McDonald's french fry. I chickend out the crickets though. Ick.

I remember you mention that your H is asian. Is he from the land of smiles (Thailand)? Lots of shopping in Bangkok - but the good shoes are still a better deal here in the USA.
BTW... I wish McDonalds would serve Parsnip or sweet potato french fries.

H is Chinese but from Malaysia. We visit Malaysia quite often and Thailand has always been on my list of places to see. We spent 5 days in Bangkok - went to the floating market in a town that ends in "buri" and all the hit tourist spots. We also had a massage almost every day. Good times. I love how colorful Thailand is...

Hi Kerry,
We have met on other people's threads. I am following you since the Cadillac thread, never posted I think.
You must be kidding, you don't eat goat meat? In the oven, with lemon juice, round little potatoes, butter and garlic... You have no idea what you are missing...
Goat, lamb, can be delicious!!! On Easter day we have lamb, we grill it in one piece... I wish I could paste links like Kerry does. If I find one, I will later...
There you go, scroll down to see the receipe. I must find a picture as well. There are villages "grilling" something like 100 of lambs at the square of the village. Easter (Greek Orthodox, 27 April this year) is very traditional here, a lot of customs and special foods. Much more than Christmas for us...
My MIL is half Chinese. I really miss her even though we dont speak the same language. She does really good negotiating at some of the gold shops of Bangkok's Chinatown.
One thing I dont miss about Bangkok is the traffic jams, but the food is cheap and so delicious. I have tried the massage (full body and foot) a couple times, but I am just one of those that dont like it that much as it seems a little personal. Although, I would gladly let my W do that to me.
Hopefully, you will have many more trips to Malaysia and I will have more trips to see my in-laws in Bangkok. They are always welcome at my house, of which they have visited a few times.
I took a trip with BIL (and S7) through Vietnam a couple years ago. I highly recommend that emerging country for tourists.
Not to jump into this discussion late, but they don't grow potatoes up in this part of Idaho. Now, huckleberries are freaking everywhere. And the best part is the bears, especially grizz, love them. Anyone up for a hike?
I love Greek food and lamb is my favorite red meat! It tends to be a bit expensive in the grocery stores here. I have no idea where to buy goat meat though (maybe I should sneak into the zoo at night ).
I like to take my kids to a Greek restaurant in town that has a big blue octopus over its entrance. They have a family night on Sundays with Bouzuki playing, folk and belly dancing.
We also have a Greek festival in the first part of Oct that is very popular in our town.

I would guess that there are not a lot of vegetarians in Greece.

I like Huckleberries as they are around here too. Kind of a small berry. Alaska has big wild blueberries and lots of your lovable grizzlys. Carry the pepper spray as the bears find it adds a bit more flavor to the human cuisine.
Isn't that part of Idaho called the panhandle or am I thinking of Florida?
