Hi ((Jeff)),

I hope the tests come back fine. I actually had the opposite problem last year. No iron at all. Nothing. I started getting dizzy spells while in bed before I went and checked it. I was constantly tired and angry (great timing again, huh).

Iron seems to play an important role and could cause symptoms of depression -not depression the way we are thinking about it- but in my case was very easy to take care...

I really hope that this is the problem! The treatment is drawing blood periodically, to get things in balance! The body has no way to get rid of excess iron, so it collects in some of the organs, and damages them, so they just take blood to get rid of the excess. Too bad I lived in England during the mad cow years, so I can't donate blood. If it isn't hemochromatosis, something else is causing "abnormal" liver function, so I really like this idea the best!

Thanks for visiting, Kalni! I'm dreaming of a Greek vacation. At this point dreaming is the best I can do!

So I guess we are hoping for hemo-whatsis for you! Ah, if it aint one thing, its another - or in our cases - and another and another - you get the idea. You are in my prayers, friend.

By the way, I just had chocolate mousse cake with strawberry filling - I think it is something I could bring to our party in October, or November or what month are we doing it now?

Yeah! It's kind of odd to be hoping to have a condition with such a dangerous sounding name, but if I am understanding correctly, the alternatives are probably worse!

Yes, I think the mousse cake would be most welcome! The mousse cake bearer would be welcome as well! I'm leaning towards the weekend that straddles October and November, unless someone seriously wanting to come can't make that and can make the one before or after.

I hope the results come back okay. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't have to get a biopsy. I've watched my mom go through a number of liver biopsies for Hepatitis C and I hope you will be spared that experience.

My roommate is making pistachio cake for St. Patrick's Day (since it's green lol) so if that turns out good I may have to try and steal her recipe.

What's to drink tonight?

Hmmm, i don't know? What sounds good to you? Something cold, I think. I'm not a really good drinker, though I have a weakness for fruity girly fru fru drinks. And Bailey's, as we have previously established.

I have an orange blossom ale which is a pretty light beer that tastes pretty fruity lol. I'm also a cider fan.

Hey Jeff...sorry to have bought up the whole renovating the house idea then seeing as you are feeling low! Sorry !! It made me smile though that you mentioned drinks again and baileys seeing as you are having tests on your blood/liver function :-) I really hope that its nothing serious. The liver is the organ of depression isnt it? Thats why alchohol is linked with it and is a depressent. The best thing you can take (alternative) would be Milk Thistle - helps to cleanse and regenerate the liver. But wait for your results for sure.

Kalni - I had anemia last year too !! Lack of iron, was tired and bad tempered for months...just as I got better, my BF started to withdraw. I think I handled the anemia badly and as it came on the back of 4 years of viral problems (now gone) it was also bad timing. Funny..I guess illness does go hand in hand with what we've all been through/going through.

Well done on doing the nightstand then Jeff! And I hope your test results turn up ok. Interesting that your W asked yuo if you might be depressed...shes showing soem concern there, how did you react to it? Did you agree, or offer to see a doctor? Is she glad that you are going to see one now? Just wondered..

Don't worry about mentioning fixing up the house. The good thing is that the house is almost new. There are a few things to do, some that haven't really been finished the first time!

A far as drinking and my liver goes, I really hardy ever drink! In general a glass of wine in a week is a lot for me! So I know that that isn't the cause. The condition they are checking for is a hereditary one, I hope it turns out to tbe the problem, anything else would be worse!

As far as depression goes, I think I just said that I didn't really think I was clinically depressed. I am "depressed" about the situation, of course, but that's not the same thing. I think she's glad I am seeing the doc now, though it feels like it is because it means the paycheck will keep coming in. Since it seems that my purpose in life is to bring home a paycheck and do things around the house. Enough of that for now!

A quick story about S18's friend.... he got married yesterday. No warning at all. S18 has quickly realized that the buying a house idea won't work, and is fully planning to go to school where we had hoped he would, and he is madder than a hornet at his friend. After he got home (he was invited tot eh sedding, though he didn't know it) he said..."this is going to sound weird coming from me, but THIS IS WHAT I WAS WEARING!" He was upset that he had gone to a wedding in a polo shirt, kind of ratty jeans and tennis shoes! He thought there should be more respect than that! Anyway, from our point of view, there's been a crisis averted. But I can't help but think the weeding itself was a mistake. The groom's mom was told by the groom's sister the afternoon of the wedding! It seems to me tht when you have to hide something like that, you might want to think about whether it is a good idea!
