I have a pile of mail, intermingled with junk mail all around my nightstand....which I can't really see. I think i might start in that corner, what do you think?
The dryer is together, running a practice run with no clothes, since I don't want to end up with a pile of wet clothes!
I will grab a bite to eat, and up after myself! (That I usually manage, actually. I also need to empty the dishwasher, someone didn't yesterday morning, and the guilty party vanished before anyone knew. But he'll get his!
Do you know you strange your words sound to a pack rat?
In some cities are niche companies starting just for you Jeff. One example of the largest and fastest growing is 1-800-Got-Junk.
You should just call them and talk. The first step is admitting you have a disease. They may have meetings for ClutterAddictsAnonymous or something. At the very least, they will come haul off whatever you pile up, if not help you sort the rooms. Maybe you should think about making an appointment in advance so you can begin getting emotionally ready to let go of a lot of old stuff. It might be a bonding thing for you and the W to start piling stuff together. For everything one of your things in the pile, she has to contribut one of hers. Get the kids to match the donations somehow.
The dryer seems to have passed it's initial test, so that's good. There is a piece I would have replaced if I had it, but I think we're good for a while. So I know what I'm doing tomorrow! Laundry and decluttering!
I am really trying to be positive about this! So away I go!
Horay, the dryer is fixed. That must feel good. I think the night stand is a perfect place to start. Remember only keep things you absolutely need. I am telling you, you are going to feel great once you start this. I have gotten two friends and my sister to do this and they wish they had done it sooner. They dont miss anything they have gotten rid of. Clear space, clear mind.
You are speaking a foreign language! But I am having at it. I think I may get the taxes done while I am going through this, I'm going through all the stuff I need, and can use it, and get it filed!
The counter in our laundry room was a hot spot in our house that would quickly pile up the junk. I got a cardboard mail organizer from Target one day to help me with the mail and little cluttery stuff.
The slots are labeled "bills" "mom" and "dad" the fourth one holds magazines. Pens, scissors, chapsticks and other little things that would pile up go in the other compartments.
Each day after getting the mail I sort the mail into one of the slots and the rest goes in the recycling. Right away. Before it can pile up. It's really helped.

Well, didn't get nearly as much done today as I would have liked, but at least moved forward. I'm waiting fr the dryer to finish, or I'd be asleep.
Went to breakfast with W, S10, and a sleepover friend, too the friend home, then picked up S13 from a sleepover! I got a load of laundry through the washer, and onto the line, actually remembered to get it int his evening, it was sheets and towels, needs to be folded, I think I will draft S18 tomorrow. Ran another load, the one that is drying now. Didn't dry it earlier because we sent over to W's parents' house for dinner. Since I usually cook Sunday, we took one of the lasagnas I make last week over. I went early, and put it in the oven, then went tot he store for garlic bread and salad. Then we watched a couple movies (they have a nicer TV than we do) and had dinner, and got home around 10. Kids don't have school for the next two weeks, so it was a bit of a treat.
Also got a part of the pile of clean laundry that has been invading my room ten care f though there is still more. Last might I got a pretty fair pile of trash from the mail pile, and the nightstand is growing more visible. I think tomorrow night I will force myself to put a half hour into decluttering before I can talk to you guys. That could be painful!
The dryer needs to be done soon, or I will be wearing wrinkles all week!
Sounds like you had some good family time at least.
Yay for decluttering. I might need to hop in on this project as well. I have a Goodwill box started that hasn't made it to the donation center yet, but also needs to be added to. And I shredded sooooo much junk mail last Wednesday - and yet, there is so much to do. I think we may have to enforce that 30 min on each other lol!
