Lavender is a great choice! And it would be really hard to object to the smell or brewing coffee!

Lol.

I'm in a junk food mood today. So I'm eating nacho cheese doritos and contemplating buying peanut M&Ms lol.

So, do you get to eat Army food all weekend, or do they let you get real food?

A bit of both. I get to eat dinner on my own and sleep in my own bed Friday night, but will be sleeping in a Vietnam-era cot on a cement slab Saturday night (which is tons better than sleeping on the concrete lol). During the day it will be a lot of Army food, but hopefully I get out of there early enough on Sunday to bum dinner off my mom.

Well, I should post about yesterday....
Didn't see W much, as we shall see.

Around 6 I got a text from S18 asking if I could pick up S13 at soccer practice at 7:30. I said I could, so I stayed at work a bit extra so I could get him on the way home. W was at teh annual home owners association meeting, S was discussing next year's plans for school with his friends (which will be important later). I got the the soccer field, no S13? Called S13, no answer. Called W, found out she had him (the meeting was only a mile or two away). Meantime, S18 had texted, he locked his keys in the car (second time in a week). And W asked if I could go to the store, S18 happened to be right next to one, though not the closest.

So, I got to the store around 8, and got S18 on his way, while I was shopping, W called. She wanted to discuss S18's plans. It seems he is changing his mind about where he plans to go to college, with the result that he wants to go to the school that weill cost more, and suit him less, both acedemically and location wise (which he admits) because one of his friends wants to stay in our city and buy a house for them to live in, and another didn't get accepted at teh school S18 "should" go to. (I don't know if S18 knows this, or if the friend was able to avoid spilling that when the other friend talked of staying here.) We figured that staying here will probably cost S18 (or his parents!) about $2000 a year, and probably more due to transportation costs. On top of all that, the friend that wants to stay will probably be done in two years (he has been taking Community College classes), and I'm not totally confident the other will last 4 years, so buying a house together could turn into a disaster. And, this morning W added one bit of info I didn't know, the friend who wants the house wants his GF to move in with them. Which will thrill his parents, I'm sure. He is younger than our S18.

Anyway, that's more than you wanted to know, but it helps me arrange my thoughts! W seemed to want a quick judgement from me on all of this while we were on the phone, so that she could start "pursuading" S18 as soon as he got home. But I had to start slowly, since she had all the info, and I was operating in the dark. She got a little upset, but I was able to quickly explain that I needed to know more. And she told me. By the time it was done, I agreed with her. What we are not sure about is how hard we can push, any of you with an 18 year old know what I mean there!

So, no real compliment, but by the time it was all done I think it was about 45 minutes of cooperative parenting talk. So I think that was a good thing. Oh, after all that, I made her fruit smoothie for this morning, while she got her laundery on off the line. (Remember that?) The dryer part is here, so fixing that is on the cards.

I have an 18 year old also. They are tough, half man half kid.

Good to hear you can have productive talks with your W though.

Hang tough!

Sounds like a bit of a strange day. Glad you guys had such a good talk.

There's still time to work in a compliment!

Not to mention a hamburger and beer.
