The ladies at work were just as shocked as I what person going thru a divorce gets roses for Valentines Day from her soon to be EX. I had to laugh..They all said they wished their Divorce had been that way. His mom was just as surprised as myself..I called and thanked him and he said I deserved it....We were allwondering if OW got roses too....Wouldn't she be bummed if she knew he got them for me....

Some friends of mine whose H's are gone are coming over for wine and some kind of food tonight. might as well not sit home by myself...The boys both texted me pictures of roses and teddy bears its nice that they remember their mom.....

Have a Great Day!!!! Remember super it is to have chocolate and wine together especially today!!!!

Wow Penny!!! Very Impressive. Keep playing it cool, you're doing great. Wish I was close enough to join you for a glass of wine!

It's almost 8 PM. My H just called. He's been stuck in traffic for the past 2 hours. He finally made it to his favorite Greek restaurant, and he's stopping for a beer and hoping the roads will clear.

It's a disappointment. I didn't expect him to do anything for V Day, but I cooked a nice dinner. The Scarborough Fair Chicken. I think the recipe is a few pages back, and a bottle of champagne. So S18 and I ate. Boy, that chicken is delicious. I haven't made this dish in years! And I'm sitting here sipping the champagne.

At least H has spent the past 2 hours trying to come home. I have a good dessert fixed too. A kahlua cake with vanilla ice cream and fudge sauce. Maybe he'll get home before we dig into that.

I wonder if this means Valentine's sex is off the menu too.

Bummer, Sara! My H worked late and brought home a pizza! Oh boy!!

But he got me a real cute gift -- a Mickey that plugs into an iPod and dances to the music! I thought I would be funny and put on some Papa Roach for him to dance to but D14 says no, I have something better than that. She digs out her iPod, scrolls through the songs, pushes play and then Mickey starts dancing to My Humps! We stood there and laughed at Mickey dancing to My Humps. I said that is just wrong!

Sara, I think you should save the dessert and some of the champagne for when your H gets home and serve it ON him! Can you imagine his suprise and delight?? He wouldn't expect that!

P.S do you mind sharing the chicken recipe?

Scarborough Fair Chicken

Rice dressing

1 cup rice, 2 cups water, 1 chicken boullion cube, heat to a boil, then reduce to low heat and cover for 15 minutes. Mix in a pinch each of dried parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. Stir. Season with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning. Cook 5 minutes longer. Fluff with fork.

Bake a cut up chicken in 350 degree oven. Season the chicken with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning and dot with butter. Sprinkle on parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. Bake for 1 hour or until done.

Make a chicken gravy by sauteing chopped onion in butter, mix in 1 tbsp. flour, then add 2 cups water and 2 boullion cubes. Bring it to a boil and allow it to thicken. Thin with fat free half and half or milk or sour cream to make it creamy.

Serve the chicken with rice and gravy. Ta-dum.

this is the way I made it tonight. The earlier recipe used a whole chicken. This time I used a cut up chicken. Basically the same. It's good either way.

Dessert was a devil's food cake mix, but instead of using 1 1/4 cups of water, I used 3/4 cup kahlua and 1/2 cup coffee, and instead of cooking oil I used butter. Gives it a lot more flavor. Then I baked it according to the package directions. Served it warm with vanilla ice cream and fudge sauce.

Joie,

That's great that he brought home pizza and a gift. I don't know what My Humps is, but it does sound funny. Sounds like you are having a good Valentine's day.

My H finally showed up and ate 1/2 the chicken. So he liked it. And he liked the dessert too. So...maybe the night's not a loss yet.
