Again, make sure your friend-who-is-not-your-date knows W will be there, a surprise would be wholly unwelcome here.

For your D's sake, let W know ahead of time that you will be bringing a female friend to the meet. If she pries, you can certainly say, "I'm not going there. Let's get some clear boundaries in place. My private life is now private."

I will definately let W know and if she asks about this person I will tell her, there's nothing to hide!
I just had a really wonderful experience with D10 tonight, I was driving her to her class and she asked me:
D10 "Daddy, are you going to celebrate Valentine's Day?"
Me: Well, I don't have a Valentine anymore, so probably not.
D10: Well, I will come and stay with you because I don't want you to be alone on Valentine's Day"
What an amazing kid! I have to say, after that I couldn't stop the tears from rolling down my cheeks. My girls will always be my Valentine's!
Btw, Happy Chinese New Year everyone! I will be celebrating at W's tomorrow night.

I have just returned from New Year's dinner at W's. The kids were just so happy and energized and I know it was cuz they had daddy home. It's hard when you see how excited they are and know you have to go back to your apartment. It was a nice dinner together and W updated me on her family in China. I also asked her about my friend coming to D10's Meet. I decided that because these Meets have always been family time that it was probably appropriate to ask for her OK, if she is uncomfortable then I would ask my friend not to come. I explained that my friend was a classmate, had been a gymnast in Eastern Europe and would love to see D10 compete, was W comfortable with her joining us. W said that was fine. So I feel that I was respectful by asking. At nights end W and D's walked me to the door and I kissed D's goodbye and W stood there, I had the feeling she wanted either to hug me or for me to hug her, I didn't. Is that good or bad, I dunno but I didn't although I had the urge to kiss her cheek. I didn't.

Well, the plant saga continues at my workplace, it's gettin' ugly folks! I, as the gentleman I am, did not expose OSB's anxiety re her dying plant situation. Unfortunately, word has leaked out and I now notice notes taped to the pots of the plants bearing cute messages like "Help me, I'm dying", "Call 911 NOW" , "I can't breathe". The thing that pisses me off is that if I wasn't being a nice guy I could be doing this stuff too! I'll probably get blamed for it anyway. I did mention to OSB's boss, in passing, that he was making her crazy and giving her nightmares about plants and he said "I know, and in a sick kind of way, I'm enjoying all this". Oh yes, don't you worry folks, you're in good hands in the mental health system! I gotta get a new job

Well, I just returned from doing four loads of laundry. When the girls stay with me the laundry task grows dramatically! I kind to like doing laundry now, my building is predominantly Asian and it is not unusual for Asian women to come to the laundry room in their pajamas.I can remember finding it somewhat strange to be sitting in the doctors office in China and find all these people there in their pj's. So laundry time is now the closest thing I have to a sex life I chatted briefly with today's pj lady just for the heck of it.
I was reading an article the other day about how to meet people of the opposite sex and it basically described what I have been doing, making connections with people, whether it be in the laundry room, the elevator, the grocery store etc. I'm not looking for a R but I'm looking to feel connected with people and to do that I must reach out in ways I don't normally. It also said to introduce topics to people that they can comment on, ask their oponion on something e.g. "what cycle would you choose to dry these kinds of clothes?". So today I did the weather with pj lady, I didn't need to talk to her as I was on my way out but I went over to the window looked outside, commented on the snow, she responded (and blushed) and we chatted briefly, then I said goodbye. I do this with people now, just to connect. It's nice to feel I'm doing something right with people. It does feel a bit odd sometimes, but you gotta do what you gotta do! Practise makes perfect, right?

Hmmm....well, laundry boy it sounds like you're connecting and that's great! Being social's a good thing even if you're not hunting. Been doing the wash today as well, but we don't have any cute asians in pajamas here...and gods forbid one forgets to clean the lint trap! \:\) I never see anyone so I don't get the total WII experience. Maybe I should invest in a hamper with wheels. Hmmm..

Uh, lint trap? I guess I have another "making conversation" topic now, don't I!
