I know, the first 2 were supposed to be funny. I think flowers on the counter would not be taken as personal so she wouldn't get as cranked about them. That would be good. Then the card later in the room, thoughtfulness from you that makes it more personal.
I think the guest room (damn, I almost said her room, I hate when I do that). That way she can react as she wants, and not feel anyone is watching. I like that best.
You are right Lin, I don't think she is a petal path person.
I actually talked to her a couple of times this afternoon, since she wanted to make sure she was getting home from the airport. Her dad insisted on picking them up, so that made all of the consternation on my part moot!

It's a southwest bouquet. Lots of different colors, wildflower sorts. Nice and bright, with no romantic overtones, like roses or something would be. I was pleased with myself!
Now you've got me thinking again, pal. They might move back and forth a few times this evening! Hopefully I won't drop them!

The bouquet is beautiful. I like flowers. I never get flowers anymore. H used to get me flowers for birthday or anniversary. It felt like he thought it let him off the hook for anything else that might make the day nice. I thanked him the last time he sent me flowers by saying thanks for the obligatory flowers. H was very offended and has never ever sent flowers again. Another example of how he takes something I say and holds it against me forever.
I am sure whatever you choose will be fine...and if she makes any snide remarks know that it might not be what is going on inside of her...and just let the water roll of the ducks back...I know my H couldn't admit that he appreciated anything I did...but now he tells me he did but was afraid to express it to me for fear of getting my hopes up...

Gal...I wondered if you were kidding but you would be suprised at how some people will get about those things...they think they really need to go all out...reminded me of a murder case and how the CSI's (real ones not TV) decided that it wouldn't be a mans MO to sprinkle rose petals all around the bed...the wife claimed he did...later it turned out she murdered him and set the crime scene up...OOOOOH, did I go off topic!!!!...Sorry DH...
They are in the guest room for now! The card is completely blank (hard to find, that). So now I need to put some ink in it! It's an abstract pastel, almost sunset colored front. Not a word, inside or out.

Jeff, if it goes bad with the flowers just let her know a simple thank you would be appropriate. Some people really don't know how to accept a simple gift or compliment and they get awkward.

Well, I got a haircut. And I took a shower this week! So sure, I should be fine! Actually I have some aftershave could put on. She'll wonder what the heck I was up to! Heck, I'll probably be asleep! Or should I stay up. It'll be after 12! You aren't thinking she could actually.... No, that's ridiculous!
I will say this. I think that seeing the disaster that is her brother's divorce, she might have done some thinking. Though that is absolutely pure conjecture, with no basis in fact!
