Regarding your H's "friend," are you sure this has been ongoing or is it new? Sure, logically, that would explain all/most of his behavior, but it could be new. If it's not, and you can prove it, the angry batard in me says take him to the cleaners.
Also, if your H is spending money frivilously, is there any way you can protect yourself from that?
In a wierd way, this discovery had to be somewhat of a relief for you. Confirmation of it's not you, it's him.

Its a total relief to get some idea that it wasn't me. I am just documenting the heck out of all the extra spending. I don't think I will be held liable for all of his debts are they are in his own name, but the cash thing kills me. I am sure both of you have felt that sting. Oh well.
Just working on feeling better. Hoping that nice fellow I met the other night gives me a call. I am just not ready to "chase" men you know? Just waiting for one to fall in my lap. Old fashioned courting taking things at a snails pace is just about all I can offer right now anyway.

I've been lucky in that my W has been equitable with our money -- no hidden expenses or anything. Now that we've split everything, our finances are totally separate.
