I do communicate with my kids all the time. Fortunately I picked my friends wisely, and am good friends with the communications officer for all of Iraq. I call my kids on a regualar phone, and talk to them as often as I can. Hill, sounds like a great book. Amazon ships to APOs.
Sounds like you are many skills ahead of me. I love to read books written by either the loosers of a war (winners write the history) or little known viewpoints.
Another book if you have time is "The Jungle is Neutral" by a Brit officer who was a stay behind after the Japanese invasion of Malaysia in 41. He survived until the end of the war. A lesson on aditude, tenanacity, positive aditude, and survival against all odds minus the salesmanship and fanatical claims in self help books.
These are off the subject on this bb but maybe you need other subjects to indulge in. Just guessing.

FLTC Well my XSS 21 informed me he was interested in joining the Military chiefly the Marines. I about fell out of my chair. He was against it upon grad from High School but has drifted and not done well in the two years since. Guess it was all those USMC BB balls I took them too over the years.
His Mom insisted his recruiter to meet him at her house which I agree. She is good with the 20 questions. Anyway I wish he gets into the Combat engineers. I always felt that duty was the most enjoyable.
Tried to reach an AF recruiter but no call back. Oh well.
Daddy and several of his Marine buddies are happy.

I loved the gunships. Made my job easy. I suggested CAC (Combat Air Control) or field meterologist. You get the uh rah (hooah in this thread) and the AF budget and lifestyle when not deployed.
AF recruiter did call my XSS when I left a msg as a E6 I was dissapointed thus he will meet with him. If Marines I suggested Combat Engineers it was best duty I had.

Are you ok, FLTC? Hopefully you are just busy and not upset at something I/we said. I do realize you are in a war.....Just want to make sure you are safe!
Matilda I believe he is busy. You get periods where you have no access to modern convienences and then you get a day or two then back to another mission. He cannot hint or tell his schedule due to Operations Security.
Honestly there are people who read these posts that do not wish us well thus we have to be careful. I am sure it was nothing anyone here said.
I review the listings of our folks who are killed and he is not on it as of the last date reported. The government does not list wounded in action.
