Orpheus' Journey

Journey of fear, darkness and screams,
Pushing slowly trhough the haze
Orpheus descends...
Lost love calls out her name,
"Eurydice!"

No answer.
Cerberes lifts his frightening heads
Past, Present, Future revealed
Orpheus stands alone, blindly
stealing forward. Blackness surrounds.

Tortured souls flash in the night,
Cling to rock walls,
Reach for morning.
Elysian Fields await.
Eurydice hears her name,
gazes at clouds,
loses the way.
Orpheus calls
"Eurydice!"

Unsure she answers,
fears the journey,
hesitates.

Orpheus ascends...

Sara,

SO I remind you of Orpheus?

I can't say I'm flattered.

Sorry, but yes. Your quest to retrieve your wife is like a journey through Hell.

However, your wife doesn't remind me of the lost and frightened Eurydice. No, she's complicit with Hades.

And even OM could be Hades, god of the underworld.

Well...I guess it been a journey through hell.

And yes...sometimes lost and frightened is complicit with Hades.

I just can't seem to reach her in the fog. Sometimes, when my compassion (or weakness) emerges, I see her lost and frightened, and seeking all sorts of stupid paths for herself.

You see what happens when we can't actually see our friends. Our imaginations can go anywhere.

Now, I didn't write the poem about you. I wrote it 6 years ago. and it was to put into verbal form the feelings I have when I do the Dance of the Furies which is the companion piece to Dance of the Blessed Spirits.

Yes, the fog. Eurydice was lost in the fog.
