I didn't expect you to agree with me, but I didn't expect such hostility either.
In Retrouvaille they specifically ask us not to try to teach other people, but to encourage people to go to a weekend. It is a complete experience that cannot be duplicated at home. They helped me when I needed help, and I do not want to break a trust with them.
However, I see the pain that Donna is in and I feel it too. I would like to share what worked for myself and my husband if it is useful to her.
The difference between you and me is that I am now happily married to my same husband, can you say the same thing?
Michele seems to be supportive of Retrouvaille as it works for some folks, and usually only if both people are willing to work on the relationship, at least at some point early on.
That said, this is not a site about Retrouvaille, and a good deal of the folks on this are near a last resort....where only one person is even interested in the relationship.
It is counterproductive....it makes things worse.... to go to retrouvaille in many of those situations.
It is completely appropriate then, that the folks from Retrouvaille would not discuss the inner workings of the communication skills in general on this board. It would be appropriate for them to share things that worked for them in a certain situation where they thought it would be helpful to the person with whom they are discussing the subject.
There's no need to be at odds, because we have the same goals, and it doesn't seem that anything is inappropriate here, at least from what I've read.
Let's drop the topic of retrouvaille and talk about something that will help....SOLUTIONS. Let's brainstorm some specific solutions.
